Remember how we said the road to fascism is a gradual process? |

Is Bush going to force the bailout tonight? He already started a preemptive war without congress. He already gets approval from them for almost everything anyway. He already took away habeas corpus, legalized torture, is spying on Americans without warrants despite a perfectly legal alternative through the courts.
The media is already completely owned by the corporations. The people have already been dumbed down to a point where they're so ignorant that many still think Obama is a Muslim. The wealthy elite already get away with robbery and murder (See: Dick Cheney, Karl Rove). The country is all but officially divided between Patriots and Traitors, where Patriots have free speech while Traitors are forced to protest in "Free speech zones".
They already stole two elections.
They may just attack Iran before the next election.
Now I hear they're going to send the Army to "keep the peace" (there's a thread on it down there somewhere) on October 1st, a completely illegal action and utterly terrifying in its implications, considering all the above.
Just how did Nazi Germany come into existence? History may not repeat itself, but it does rhyme. A full blown economic collapse is just what was needed to trigger a fascist dictatorship back then.
Hello? American people? Are you paying any attention whatsoever? Is there anybody out there?

Not much else my broken ass body can do. Called and bitched at Schumer's office today. That felt good.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make light of a serious subject.
This particular frog started to feel the water in the pot getting way too hot for comfort back in 2001. I can't believe people aren't in the streets by now. x(

5. You reminded me of a famous quote about bankruptcy: |
|
Q: So, how did you go bankrupt?
A: At first slowly and then all of a sudden, quite quickly.
The first part of any process is gradual but the snowball picks up momentum heading down the slope.

You do remember that in the Patriot Act the President and the President alone can identify anything as a national crisis, whether it's financial, terrorism or environmental and cancel elections. Now McCain is saying he will debate next Thursday, that would be Oct. the 2nd and troops are supposed to start "trooping" to keep America in place on Oct. 1st. The president could theoretically cancel the election and declare McCain and Palin his successors. He has that power from the Patriot Act. I would have some in house cash on hand by Oct. 1st, just in case that would be the situation over the month of October. Better safe than sorry.

10. "Is there anybody out there?"... |

Yes, the same ones who have BEEN out here.
And we are statistically insignificant and impotent in the face of the BIG LIE.
The vast majority simply WILL NOT DEAL. And that includes millions who are aware of everything that you point out, and more. The conditioning is that effective.
I have no idea what the manipulators' plans are, but I know that they will not be met with sufficient opposition. They are dead serious, and have done the numbers. "We" are not serious and don't do numbers, believing that good will will somehow sustain us, and that bad things are far off. It's magical thinking.
The hammer should have long dropped on the whole charade. Instead, denial and "business as usual" has legitimized it.
