Debate commission says McCain-Obama faceoff still on
Never mind all of today's hoopla -- Friday's first presidential debate between John McCain and Barack Obama is full-steam ahead.

Per the just-released statement by the Commission on Presidential Debates, which organizes the meetings between nominees:

The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) is moving forward with its plan for the first presidential debate at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss. this Friday, September 26. The plans for this forum have been underway for more than a year and a half. The CPD's mission is to provide a forum in which the American public has an opportunity to hear the leading candidates for the president of the United States debate the critical issues facing the nation. We believe the public will be well served by having all of the debates go forward as scheduled.

Ole Miss continues debate prep after McCain suggests delay

Associated Press - September 24, 2008 5:24 PM ET

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The University of Mississippi is still preparing for Friday night's presidential debate -- even after Republican John McCain said today (Wednesday) that he wants to delay it to focus on resolving the nation's financial problems.

Democrat Barack Obama says that given the economic situation, it's more important than ever for voters to hear from the presidential candidates.

Ole Miss has spent more than $4.5 million to prepare for the debate. Streets are blocked, and campus security is tight.

1. If the debate doesn't happen, can Ole Miss ask for a bailout?

3. How is it that no scribe or pundit asked just exactly WHEN
McCain decided he should suspend his campaign and delay the debate?

Before Obama's call? If so then why did he say it publicly only after the call?

After Obama's call? Then he got the whole idea of putting partisan politics aside to solve this crisis from Obama. Didn't he realize that, say, two days ago when everyone already knew we had a crisis on our hand?

And just why can't all those Republicans make up their minds without McCain being physically present in Washington?
Suddenly all of them are clueless as to what they want and need a knight on a white horse to show them the way?
(Who the fuck believes that, come on?)

And just what good does it do if he doesn't attend that debate at 9. pm Friday? He believes that the Congress will stay and continue to negotiate just because he didn't go to that debate? What's his point?

I'm surprised that Obama didn't call McCain out for his multi-level illogicality.
(Yes that's a word from now on.)
