on KO --- OMG!!! McCain memo "let's politicize this"
Politico Ben Smith got ahold of a memo from McCain campaign regarding 'suspending campaign. putting country first'

Memo had talking points - "let's politicize this". It's not up on Politico yet... keep an eye out for it

1. Bombshell if verified
Everyone already surely suspects that McCain is doing this strictly for political points - but confirming it would be great.

2. Here is the memo (jpg)
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 07:30 PM by Newsjock
it's legit

Here's the story that goes with it:
http://coloradoindependent.com/9151/oops-colorado-mccain-camp-sends-internal-e-mail-to-reporters

The regional spokesman for John McCain in Colorado accidentally sent the campaign’s internal talking points on the candidate’s plans to suspend his campaign to its entire Colorado media list, instead of a list of key volunteers, Wednesday afternoon, PolitickerCO’s Jeremy Pelzer reports.

17. "LET'S POLITICIZE IT" explained
I just reran the segment (thank god for DVR) - the way the story was reported on KO is a bit confusing, I understood it as the mccain campaign saying "let's politicize it" - but this was a comment made by KO's guest

In any event, issuing the talking points memo as a talking point memo is polticizing this. This memo was not to be distrubuted to the media as some statement. It's a HOW TO talk it up MEMO and put mccain in a better light.

9. OK, I have to have this explained to me in simple words of 1 or 2 syllables.
What's explosive about this memo?

14. OK. If mcsame is really going to suspend his campaign....
why does he need talking points? The very fact that his staff is trying to spin this shows that it's all just a way to win votes and reduce his risk of looking like a fool on economic issues during the first debate.

There, an explanation in 2 syllables or less. :D

11. I don't see this anywhere: "let's politicize this"
The one that's posted here is a memo of talking points -- nothing more. Did Keith say anything else?

23. Bull......
This was mistakenly represented as a quote coming out of the memo -- it wasn't in the memo. Not slamming the OP -- it was just an error. "Talking points" is SOP for any number of organizations, including wonderful charities, progressive groups, employees when they hit the boss up for a raise, spouses when they argue important issues......No, spouses don't issue memos but some do jot notes with key points they want to make -- talking points. As much as I can't stand McAddled and like everyone here know this is just a political stunt, issuing talking points is standard and the ones issued here are the run of the mill Republicans bullshit talking points, nothing explosive.
