Good comment from Chris Dodd on the Rachel Maddow show.

1. It's an orchestrated ploy designed to make McCain and the Republicans

look like they give a damn about people and to make McCain look like a leader.

If Bush meant any of this, he would have made the speech earlier, anywhere from Friday to yesterday.

I am even more convinced they colluded on this, especially not that Bush's "invitation" is forcing Obama to Washington.

Even with Bush now taking a role, it's not about him, it's about propping McCain up as a leader who is different than Bush. Watch for that contrast to be emphasized tomorrow. And they will try their damndest to stall this just enough to put off the debate. ETA: Mind you that will be the only way they take time on this - the rest of it is to push a fast, rather than thoughtful plan through.
