interesting coincidence--socal's orange county also has members of the "chopper community" and they also seem to lean toward the rw side.

11. OCC is one of the biggest Jokes in the cycling community |
|
Neither father or son are the great cycle builders they and the net work that supports them think they are. I stopped wacthing the show after the first session for the simple fact that they can't build cycles, they just put parts together that other people done the work of building.
They couldn't hold a candle to any of the greats like Jesse James or the late great Indian Larry, who actually build cycles from the ground up. OCC is a family of posers like the rest of the republicons out there, they credit themselves for others work then blame everything they screw up on whoever is standing nearest to them at the moment.

Toots is great as thats what he reminds me of, a bar room bully that finds the smallest guy in the bar and tries his tough guy act on him.

20. I watched that shit one time. Once was enough. |
|
This was the episode where they built Jay Leno's motorcycle. The morans built the whole bike, had it completely done, then someone got on it and hey! The air cleaner hit his knee! They had to tear apart the whole air intake and move it.
What the fuck? First, they've built motorcycles before, they know where your fucking knee goes. Second, who the hell waits until the last second to get on the bike for the first time?

I think most of us long time bikers agree they're just a couple of hacks that got lucky. The show isn't about their bike building ability, it's about the dad and son screaming at each other and throwing stuff around.
I'm sure it appeals to the RUB crowd that can go buy a $60k and up already-built-for-them chopper without blinking, but it doesn't hold much interest for a guy like me who actually rides a 10 year old Sportster 1200 miles a month, and I do all my own work on it to boot.

17. Yep pretty much just like the auto worker on the asembly line |
|
everything thats fabercated is done outside of the shop, oh sure they cut a fender or gas tank or oil tank and cutting sheet metal into shapes pus they do custom exhust pipes, but everything from chrome ( which is understandable as you need a big building to do chrome work )to frames, to wheels is done by others, they don't even paint the cycles themselves, that too is sent out.
Solid wheels instead of spoked wheels are preferred by posers as truing a spoked rim is hard tedious work and takes a few years to master, as well as lacing the wheel ( lacing putting the spokes on the rim ) the stories I can tell you on my first attempts at lacing then truing a rim. Rather eat dirt or poke eyes out then do spoke rims lol.

19. You don't need that big a shop to chrome bike parts.. |
|
Two hundred gallons tanks should be sufficient for just about any bike part except maybe a long springer or girder front end and the frame of course.
It could easily be done in a two car garage. The nastiest part is the polishing room and for bike parts 12' x 12' would be more than enough.
