A visual reminder for Frank and Dodd regarding Bush and his "warning."
Edited on Wed Sep-24-08 11:08 PM by mzmolly

I am not necessary opposed to a bail out with Obama's stated principals included, but I am opposed to being punked by the Bushies again. If McCain doesn't sign on to the "solution" to our financial crisis before we pass legislation, I'm sorry to say, we're idiots.

1. PS the above is the famed "Rose Garden" pic.
Note that Gephardt is no longer in politics?

2. The bailout is bad policy and bad politics.
Insisting that John McCain cast a vote for the bill before any Democratic Senators do can stop this from costing us the White House.

However, Republican challengers can still use the bailout bill to campaign against any Democratic lawmaker who votes for it.

5. We're fools either way.
But we're far less foolish if we insist on McCain's support on the record before going forward.

7. It's not his past decision making that makes me think we need him on board.

It's because I don't want him to use our vote "with The President" to posture politically against a "Wall Street bail out" and distance himself from Bush, after the deal is done.

Note the following was written by someone close to the McCain camp.

I fear we're being played in some respects?

8. Solution - Include reform in the bailout
Force him to either embrace regulatory reforms or veto the deal.

It's not just smart politics, it is essential or we're just pissing away hundreds of billions of dollars to the usual cronies. And if we don't attach reform to the bailout, it will not get past Republican obstruction next year.

Unfortunately, it seems that once again we're going to get screwed.
