Remember back in July when Senate repukes blocked a bill that would increase help for the poor with heating bills?

Senate Republicans block heating aid bill
July 26, 2008

WASHINGTON — Republicans on Saturday blocked the Senate from considering a bill next week that would nearly double federal aid to help the poor pay heating and air-conditioning bills.

Democrats needed 60 votes to substitute the measure on heating and air-conditioning aid in place of the debate on an expansion of offshore drilling championed by President Bush and GOP presidential candidate John McCain. They got 50 votes Saturday, with 35 Republicans voting against changing the topic.

While Senate Democrats said they hoped to pass it next week, Democrats in the House were looking at the popular subsidies for anchoring a second economic aid bill they want to push in September, closer to the November election.

Well, it is late September, but instead of talking about helping the poor with their heating bills this winter, congress is scrambling and working overtime to bail out the banks.

This fucking makes me sick.

1. Shamefully, only a handful in Congress are interested in this country
...and the welfare of its inhabitants. If they were, they'd have approved federal aid to the elderly and would never even consider bailing out the very corporations that are responsible for bleeding us dry.

2. Bernanke and Paulson could care less abour ordinary people.
Listen to them talk. They just jibber jabber and don't relate to real things. It's all abstract conceptual talk. It's ridiculous.
