It could be worse, wait, it is.

Public housing residents angry, confused

“We do not have housing,” he said. “There is no housing. Trust me, I lost my house on the West End. It’s just really bad.”

I grew up on the Texas coast, I've seen these projects, I've known people who lived there. Black, White, Hispanic, they are all there, homeless now, roaming the streets with boxes that may be their home tonight. John McCain wants to suspend his election because some insanely rich guys may loose some money while these folks look for a safe place to sleep. John McCain, you're no politician of the people.

Congress you want to do something? Find these people a place to sleep, find them a warm meal, make them feel safe. They didn't contribute to a campaign. The few pennies they had after rent went to staples like rice, beans, and flour. Mr. McCain they know how many cars the have. They don't count how many homes they have, they count rooms. That number is usually one. While you sit in a great white building deciding how much money to give to the leaders of failed businesses think about what these people are not getting tonight. A bed, a meal, a night without fear.

"Helen Roberson, 77, begged a man to crawl through her broken home to find her pet bird, Pretty Boy. When he crawled out carrying the cage littered with seeds and droppings and Pretty Boy clinging to the corner, Roberson broke into a wide smile."

Helen's not thinking about the billions you're about to give some bank. No, she's wondering where her and Pretty Boy are going to sleep. You care for these souls John, you look after those who need Barack. The world is watching.

1. And for Landry's
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 01:22 AM by MichaelHarris
"On Tuesday evening, LeBlanc announced to his staff that the Red Cross would open a shelter for 1,500 people at the Galveston Island Convention Center, which is managed by Landry’s Restaurants."

Landry's Seafood manages the Convention Center and said this, "groups that had reserved the facility for events in October were still planning to come to town. Landry’s officials also had an appointment to show the building tomorrow to a group that wanted to book it for sometime in the future."

So you see, the poor people can't use the Convention Center because some rich clients want to rent it in October.
