The TV machine is in FULL FREAKOUT MODE |
|
. . all across the cables.
There is something about the hours between 9am and 4pm that is bringing out the absolute worst in yellow journalism..
They are all talking very very fast and the lies are breathtaking. "McCain suggested this morning's meeting" - CNN "There are fears this legislation might be slowed by the political climate" - MSNBC
I guess they think that all sentient beings are safely tied to their cubicles by now...

2. I noticed that as well.. |
|
their corporate bosses are probably in full freakout mode, so it's filtering down to the newsrooms. It's a bit like a dinner party with cannibals.

3. There has been a "daytime trend" in this direction |
|
over the past two weeks or so. The tone of the coverage during the day has been RW and strident to a noticeable degree..

|
All the credit card, mortgage, consumer loan excesses of the past 10 years wiped clean in on fell swoop.
Can you blame them?

6. And The Markets Will Yawn |
|
The other day I was watching all the "crisis" coverage and the market was all but flat. Yes, it's still down, but it sure wasn't tanking another 300 plus points...obviously someone out there was buying and some kind of lending is going on.
This is the "flavor of the moment"...the freak out story of the week. A couple weeks ago it was lipstick on a pig, then Palinpalooza and now we're onto the "economic crisis". IMHO most people are confused about what exactly is happening, but they DO know things are bad and they don't want the same crooks who created this mess to be given a blank check to "fix it".
The fun will be the interaction between meeester boooooosh and Gramps...how close do they get without getting too close. The body language will be worth watching. There's also gonna be the "limelight" factor. Be assured the manchild sees this as his moment to be the hero and doesn't give a shit about Gramps...while Gramps will attempt to portray himself as the "mover and shaker" here...and if things don't work out, he'll blame the Democrats. Obama should just sit there and go with the flow...which I'm sure is what he'll do. The fact that the teevee will be full of boooooshie and Gramps in a kibuki dance is worth thousands in campaign ads.
