$1.2 trillion does sound more like their style, doesn't it?

Banking System Will Need Another $500 Billion: Gross

The banking system needs another $500 billion to survive beyond the $700 billion rescue plan being contemplated by Congress, said Pimco founder Bill Gross.

Gross said on CNBC that the government bailout plan will help free up bank balance sheets so they can start lending again, but will provide only about $50 billion in real capital to the system.

"The plan goes far but it doesn't go far enough in terms of capitalization," he said. "The banking system and the investment banking system in total really requires about $500 billion more. Where that comes from is still up in the air."

...

Don't forget that this doesn't include the $25B to bailout the automakers:

1. We can pay for it if we cancelled Bush's tax cuts on capital gains immediately.
They must show good faith by putting a little skin in the game of bailout as well, not just the American people alone doing it.

3. That would make sense, but the "Rescue" is one last smash and grab by the powers that be before
whatever happens in November. Last night was pretty much a verbal stick up. Give my freind Henry "Goldman Sachs" Paulson 700 billion or you will be destitute for the next 50 years. Do not ask questions, there is no time....blah, blah, blah.
