Poll question: How did Srub do last night?
Now that we have had a night to digest what Bush was telling us, how do you feel he did, please give a grade and comments!

12. He lied about housing prices: they will NOT go up after the bailout.
Almost everyone knows housing prices are way too high they need to go down. This will happen after the bailout. Note, he implied that we are buying low and selling high. We are in fact buying high and selling low.

16. Actually, it's a matter of WAGES and SALARIES matching affordable home prices.
The ONLY problem with home prices is that the vast majority of working class people CAN'T AFFORD one. This is less a matter of the prices being too high than a matter of wages and salaries being far too low. For people who already OWNED a home 20 years ago, the problem hasn't been nearly as extreme as for those who've had to ENTER the home market in the last 10 years. Even among those of us who already OWNED a home, the predations of the work place have wiped out our equity by making it impossible to sustain the property taxes and costs of home ownership with long periods of unemployment and underemployment. For many, their home equity was the only "nest egg" they had ... and the Bush/Clinton/Bush years destroyed it. But that cohort is nothing compared to those who've attained adulthood and entered the workforce in the last 10-15 years ... and found that they couldn't afford to own a home of their own in any region that could afford to employ them.

Again ... the War On The Working Class has been appalling. It's the primary reason for the housing bubble and the primary reason for actuarial projections of Social Security shortfalls on the horizon.

22. Correct, we have not seen the bottom of the housing market yet..
I've seen predictions of an additional 20-30% fall. Not to mention that many of those houses are sitting empty and falling further and further into disrepair by the day.

28. If I had to say one positive thing
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 12:51 PM by Caliman73
At least the fool did not trip all over his words this time. Other than that the speech was completely worthless. In context we have a man who's personal and party policies created this mess, coming on television and "explaining" to us how it happened. Not one mention of deregulation of course! He uses the same tired scare tactics used to push us into the disastrous war in Iraq and talks about basically the plan that Obama has been saying was the bear minimum that could be agreed upon for the bailout plan. To top it off he tries to make it sound like it was his idea.

Ridiculous.
