***New Tunes This Week: Everlast "Kill the Emperor" ***
Everlast - Kill the Emperor

(Chorus)
I think I would, if I could kill the emperor,
Let's stop the war and feed the poor lets kill the emperor
Let's stop the lies, the dead can't rise, silence every mother's cries
I think I would, if I could, kill the emperor

Yo it's like resident evil, the emperor's people don't give a mad fuck about your life
They'll fuck your wife and your kids
They've got people doing bids for being slaves to the dope that they supplying,
Still they keep lying and tell you that its some cartel
While they waiting on the heaven they're creating the hell
They rape the constitution while you wait in your cell,
And for the victors go the spoils and that's oil wells,
Call Orsen Wells cause the worlds at war and the frontline is just outside your door
Fuck the New York Times, Fuck CNN,
Politicians that pretend to be the working mans' friend

(Chorus)

Yo the emperor's a liar, the fields are on fire
Oil prices get higher, times about to expire
Hurricane Katrina and Asian tsunamis, adolescent mommies and high school snipers
Final days are coming get ready for trial.
Americans they live in fifty states of denial
Have a coke and a smile, or some crack in a vile
You can even buy a pill to keep you hard for a while for these girls gone wild.
In this world at war, it's the same old whores it's the new crusade,
Yo the plan been made they lied to invade.
I'm on the palace lawn with my live grenade

(Chorus)

Amazing and Powerful all at the same time.

1. I've never heard any of Everlast's music but bought this
song based ONLY on the above lyrics of TRUTH.

The TRUTH is in these lyrics!!

Wow!! Thanks much for bringing this song to my attention.

Do you have the whole album? What's it like? I don't really like loud thrashing music (I'm a Deadhead, I like my Jerry type music for the most part).

2. Advice: BUY THE ALBUM
It's a somewhat more mellow album that we're used to from Everlast but that matters little because the substance of some of the songs is amazing. This song is the first track on the album and probably the most blunt on the album - but the entire album is full of political speech and he minces no words. Check out "Naked" and "Letters Home From the Garden" - truly amazing in their structure and prose. Those are just two songs that stick out to me, theres more - oh yeah, and it includes an awesome cover of the Johnny Cash classic "Folsom Prison Blues".

What's even more powerful is Everlast hasn't been known for being political - even more so when you consider his musical background. He's also one of those artists that many in the military seem to love because of his rough-and-tumble style.
