***On the radio (Air talk) SoCal rep Brad Sherman just said the bailout agreement is a joke***
No real taxpayer concessions, no real oversight, pretty much what Paulson asked for in the 3-pager with a few token "fig leaf" changes. Best of all, Bush threatens to veto if any meaningful changes are made to the package! Sherman says Bush and Wall Street are playing chicken with the congress, and would rather let "financial armageddon" happen than acquiesce to democratic demands. Anybody still believe this crisis is all it's cracked up to be? DAYLIGHT-FUCKING-ROBBERY!

3. If there is any time for the Democrats to have a backbone - it's right fucking now
Let Bush veto it and let the chips fall where they may. I'm sorry, but this bailout is just a short-term profit making exercise for Wall Street interests that will further destroy our economy.

4. Hard to believe this is happening
Sherman said it's being "forced down the throats of congress"! Yet, for political reasons they gonna vote it up by Saturday. Fucking dems abandon their principles whenever the pukes turn up the heat.

6. It also helps McCain - a deadlock would have left him there "working" on the economy
They are already spinning this as "it wouldn't have happened without John McCain coming back!"

13. Well I'd rather have McCain attached to the bail out somehow
than skirting it totally. But, it should be obvious he's playing politics, again.

11. Some, maybe - others are more complicit
Remember that old adage: Two sides of the same coin? Might hold some truth in this situation.

all that "my constituents won't stand for it" was smoke and mirrors. :wtf:

16. That's what the man says
Also, he says the only change to CEO compensation will be that they can't employ the exotic formula they'd been using for their bonuses. Companies are still free to pay theses guys pretty much whatever they want.

17. I want to see the Plan, none of this bullshit about what * said
I think the plan should be published in every major newspaper and any minor newspaper in every city of the country. Let us see what they hammered out while taking our money. Let us see first hand the deals they made and how the fucking ceos are gonna keep everything and be free to rape us again and again and again. Remember, the first 700 BILLION just keeps getting replenished like the everyready rabbit.

This is the most up front smash and grab of all of our money in our lifetime.
