I'm conflicted about McCain |
|
screwing up the agreement on the bail out. On the one hand, I'm against the Congress ramming this unthought out legislation through and on the other, I don't want to see McCain successfully exploit this situation to his own advantage.
This is all just fucking insane.

1. I don't want him to be able to say "They cut me out and I'm against this huge giveaway!" |

"I tried to stop them from giving your bank accts over to Goldman-Sachs so they excluded me from their wheeling and dealing. Vote for me, Main Street, and I will avenge you against these blood sucking New York money-lenders !"
In other words, the Dems shouldn't push him away too hard. He has to buy in, or else he'll demagogue this issue all the way to Nov 4. Unfortunately that means letting him make his bid for a photo op and claiming partial credit.

2. You're not conflicted about McCain, then--he's just playing games. |
|
You're conflicted about what Dems should do with this bailout. Nobody should be conflicted about McStuntman--it's clear he puts political gamesmanship first.

3. Rest assured, McCain isn't helping, he's offering no |
|
positions or solutions of any merit, he's just prolonging the situation. He probably hopes he can do that through next week so he'll have an excuse for not appearing at the debate.
I don't know what's been hammered out, and I agree with you, I hope they're not just ramming it through so they can go on their break. But I'm trying to keep the faith. I guess we'll see soon, maybe.

10. I'm conflicted about the bailout, but not McCain. |
|
Whatever the value of the bailout, McCain's antics are strictly politics and he's managed to inject Presidential politics into what was previously bipartisan negotiation. Now each side is making public statements as to an agreement being close or dead, instead of simply working together to find agreement.
Obama reached-out to McCain on Wednesday to inoculate the negotitation process against Presidential election politicking, suggesting a joint statement on agreed-upon principles, and then McCain goes and directly inserts himself and Presidential politics into the issue.
I've had enough of the McCain Republican drama; I'm donating, campaigning and voting Obama.
