Ponzi scheme. Bigger than Enron. Can we impeach...
...now?

CNN just now...FBI type discussing the FBI investigation of Fannie, Freddie and the bunch. Says this will lead to LOTS of people in jail.

Enron was similar, and was deliberate. The feds (FERC) refused to regulate and allowed it to get out of control. California has still not recovered. This is the same thing on an even bigger scale. Big enough to bring down the entire financial system.

This IS grounds for impeachment (as if we needed more). IMHO. I have never supported impeachment because it would be so divisive...and I still worry about that. But now it seems we have to do it, to restore confidence in our nation.

1. Dozens of grounds for impeachment -- they just won't do it.

2. I saw that!
The guy's name was Harold, but I didn't catch his last name. He's a retired FBI forensic accountant. He said subpoenas should be issued immediately to stop document destruction. The investigation could take up to a year.

I looked on CNN's website for the video, but it's not there. Everyone should see it.

Yeah, and IMPEACH the bastard!

5. Thank you for filling in more...
...of the details. I was so surprised by what he said...I think I'm still in shock.

And, yes, everyone should see it.

3. How is it that Republiks can always do "devisive" things, but we can't ever do anything? n/t

4. "It would be so divisive"...?? ..as compared to how politics are now?
Do you really think things are not divisive now? Republicans thrive on divisiveness.. It is the ONLY way they can ever win anything..

7. I absolutely DO think things are VERY devisive...
...now. Which is why I've been hopeful for uniting the country. I still...and will always...believe we have to do that.

And I agree it's a Republican tactic that has worked for them.

8. if we have learned anything from the past eight years it's this...
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 03:54 PM by Javaman
there won't be "dozens" that will get jailed.

there will be one sacrificial pig that gets thrown to the wolves only later to be resurrected on the lobbying circuit.

no one takes responsibility anymore and no one is held responsible anymore.

that part of america is long since gone.

10. It is a sad lesson of the last eight...
...years. But maybe there's a second lesson: We shouldn't take our democratic freedoms for granted. As Thomas Jefferson once said:

"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free...in a state of civilization...it expects what never was, and what never will be."

12. Not with a GOP-run "Justice Department" "investigating" fellow GOPhers ...
... breaking the laws.

The inmates are running the asylum.
