I just heard Barney Frank on CNBC |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 02:07 PM by Redbear
He said that Senate and House Democrats and Senate and House Republicans met this AM.
The Senate and House Dems and the Senate GOP had agreed on every issue except bankruptcy protection. Rep Baucus was the House Republican rep to the meeting and participated but Baucus said he couldn't speak for his caucus, which upset Frank a great deal.
Frank went on to say that Sen. Dodd asked if anybody in the meeting had any further issues. Rep. Baucus was silent. But then after the meeting, Rep. Baucus was quoted as saying he still had issues with the plan.
Rep. Frank seemed concerned that the GOP house caucus was intentionally not participating as a way to slow down the process until McCain could get to DC and do his Mighty Mouse thing.
Frank also said the deal included oversight, taxpayer protection, homeowner foreclosure protection, and that the cost would be phased in over time instead of 700 billion now.

5. He did say executive pay was covered, but couldnt give specifics |
|
he didnt want to give any specifics until he talked to his own caucus.
Paulson basically admitted that the 700 billon part wasn't the emergency. He just wanted a big number to impress world markets.

6. It's NOT an emergency... they've been working on the plan for months. |
|
I'm gonna be bald by this weekend, I swear.
Our Dems need to start being honest with people, and stop letting the WH get away with these lies!

8. I certainly hope so... |
|
this was a huge opportunity for Dems to do another favor for future generations, as FDR did.
If they missed it... ugh... I don't even want to consider it.
