So McCain comes in to develop a bail out plan that he then votes against? How does that help him? |
|
From everything I'm reading here, it sounds like McCain's plan is to hijack whatever progress has been made, make suggestions to the plan that the Republicans accept and then he votes against the plan while tricking Obama and the Dems to vote for it.
I don't get it. How does this even get spun to make McCain look presidential and a hero if he won't even vote for the thing he made a big deal about coming here to do?
Am I missing something? It sounds like most of his own base/party doesn't want this bail-out so what's the point?

2. McCain's actions is placing the country's psyche in a state |
|
of confusion and panic. Is that what we want in a leader? It's like we are the enemy and he is using psychological warfare on us.
There is no consistency or logic in his dealings.
Thank goodness we have Barack Obama, the intelligent levelheaded candidate, to lead us away from this madness.

5. not missing anything. You pretty much got it. |

Despite what any number of DUers are posting, McCain isn't going to vote against whatever plan ends up being presented for a vote. How can he? He says there is a crisis. He says a bailout is needed. WHat is he going to give as a reason for voting against it? That it takes too much money from the taxpayer? He says its a crisis. That it doesn't give enough to individual mortgage holders or limit executive pay enough? If he has a proposal that goes further than the current one in that regard, Democrats will leap on it, isolating the rest of the repubs who oppose the plan, making them look like Scrooge McDuck clones.

7. If he was on the pertinent commitees that are |
|
putting this plan together, I might be worried. But he's not and neither is Obama. Bush and McCain are staging this for the uninformed voter. Nothing more, nothing less.
