Republicans up for reelection are living in terror
Edited on Thu Sep-25-08 04:21 PM by Cyrano
Twenty three ReThug senators and every Rethug congressperson is up for reelection this year. And the current financial "crisis" has them drowning in their own sweat.

The majority of Americans blame the Rethug party for our current disaster. So right now, it's every Rethug for himself/herself and they are running as fast as possible from Bush/Cheney as well as "no-Wall Street-regulation" John McCain.

The sad part is that, for many of these thugs, it will probably work. There are people in various parts of this country who would rather die than vote for a Dem.

But why is John McCain still a viable candidate? Why would any voter not consider him part of the problem?

The answer is simple, but it's one that no politician can say in public. The vast majority of voters are uninformed, or just plain stupid.

If you're like me, you actually believe that our current financial crisis will be the death of the Republican Party. But then, after eight years of Saint Ronnie, I actually believed that no one would ever again vote for a Republican for at least 100 years. It's not enough to "bury" these bastards. We need to drive stakes through their hearts -- ummm, chests.

2. Republicans who vote against the bailout will get re-elected...
...in most cases.

3. I agree with you My Friend but one slight edit to your post
The vast majority of people who vote for republicans are uninformed and stupid and way too proud to admit it. Keep waving those flags conservatives.

I believe that Zogby is probably on the right track here.
If McCain wins in a landslide (man I hope Zogby is right), how would that affect the Congressional races?

My job requires me to be all over town. I’m seeing more McCain signs than Obama signs. What puzzles me is that I do not see Obama signs in the sections of the city where I’d expect, namely section 8 house, low income housing, etc.

Up until the last few days I was seeing more Obama stickers on cars, but that is changing. I think its about even now. Seems like a lot of people have very recently taken a public stand in favor of McCain.

I can’t imagine it hurting our position on those races. Some people who don’t care for the top of their ticket stay home. If some leftists do, that would help.

I honestly don’t know how to gauge what the overall impact would be. I’d imagine folks that crossed over to vote McCain, would still vote for their favorite lefty in their home district. Still, who knows...

I heard McCain just opened 50 offices here in CA. I guess the internals tell a different story. No enthusiasm in CA for Obama.

Cali would be my LAST guess as to which blue state would flip. But what do I know...

Not nearly as much as it COULD HAVE. The RINO’S who still run the party failed to even RUN candidates in many competitive and even RED districts this election cycle.

They figured there was no way they could run against the powerhouse and beloved Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and their 9% approval ratiing. RINO’S are worse than democrats. RINO’S need to be herded and put out to pasture November 5th.

if Clinton is to make his point about how the radicals screwed up the democrat party, the defeat must be totally crushing.
I believe it will be totally crushing. IMO that's why the DemocRATs are so desperately trying every dirty trick.

A gift for DemocRATs who will be changing their mind, and who will be embarassed by their stickers. Goo Gone Sticker Lifter

Obama as of today by what he said is now TOAST with those remarks.

As I have repeatedly said, attrition will smother Obama.
As people find out what he really is, there can be no turning back, and all the states are visibly gravitating away from Obama, more so than toward McCain.

I’ve seen evidence of the House and Senate races becoming much more competitive. The Senate races in CO and NC were almost being written off. Now Dole is ahead in NC and the Colorado race is within 2 points acording to Rasmsn. I’d prefer the congressional races continue to fly beneath the national radar — less chance of MoveOn, etc dumping money and lies in those districts. I think we can reasonably say that the heavy Republican losses that were predicted in June and July won’t materialize.

I know a couple of Obamination supporters and they will never remove their stickers. Even when they get thumped in Nov. It's part of their "mental" makeup...sick in the head.

But I do like the idea so much so that I just bought 2 tubes on the stuff.

I have believed this since day one, Fauxbama will be lucky if he gets 40% of the popular vote come election day, as long as we are dealing with real emergencies he’s going to keep going lower than that... He truly has the potential to make McGovern look good.

Now it won’t be the EC landslide that Reagan won in 84, no way it’ll be a 49 to 1 state route, but I have always believed the idea this is going to be some 1-3% race to be insanity.

My head is still spinning from reading all that garbage. And this thread was written today! What news stories are they reading?

There have been days when I thought there might be an Obama landslide. There have been days when I thought it would be close, but Obama would win. There have been days when I thought it would be so close that various GOP tricks would tip the balance to McCain. But there has never, ever, been a day when I thought there would be a McCain landslide. How on earth could there be? Even in 2004, when GWB was still the darling of the party, it was basically a 50/50 split on election day. McCain has never had anything close to the kind of adulation that GWB had then.

Teh delusion, it hurts.
