"It would be a real shame if youse economy was to burn down suddenlike," said Thumbs,
nervously flicking a lit match. "Sometimes unforeseen accidents might happen around here"

"What my friend Thumbs is trying to say," Tiny explained helpfully, "is that a smart person could have the wise idea to buy youse self some protection"

Grave concern crossed Thumbs's face. The matchbox seemed to be empty. He dropped it and found another, which he gently shook to help relieve the tension

"Suppose," Tiny continued, "somebody careless was to wash youse walls and windows with gasoline"

That was, in fact, a real possibility because the fire marshall had revised the code a few years earlier, following a sociable chat with Thumbs and Tiny

There remained the question of cost. Thumbs thoughtfully chewed upon a match

"Youse will be pleased to learn," Tiny added, "that we offer innovative adjustable rate protection"

"Maybe youse could point out how that works," Thumbs suggested, "without all the big words." He struck the match off a front tooth

"Sure. What my friend Thumbs wants you to see is how easy youse can understand this. If we might find youse has not bought enough protection, we drop by to sell youse more. And youse has all the convenience of our easy payment plan"

"Meaning youse just owe us until youse pay. Also tell that risk thing"

Tiny beamed. "Right. Youse has no risk at all. When youse buys protection from Tiny & Thumb, we deliver youse a whole truckload of valuable money-saving coupons and oily rags to keep in youse attic, free. And should youse ever decide youse needs to recoup youse protection premiums, youse just sell the truckload"

Outside, a truck backed towards the door
