TREASURY SECRETARY HENRY PAULSON FEARS BAILOUT DEAL MAY COLLAPSE; PLEADS WITH DEMS, 'PLEASE DON'T BLOW THIS UP,' ABC NEWS HAS LEARNED

:wtf:

Paulson is seriously trying to make this about the Democrats???

On Edit: Links. Links are a good thing. ;)

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/stephanopoulo-6.html

ABC's George Stephanopoulos Reports: Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson fears the Wall Street bailout deal is falling apart after a chaotic White House meeting, sources say.

Paulson walked into today's the room where Democrats were caucusing during today's meeting at the White House and pleaded with them 'please don't blow this up,' Stephanopoulos reports.

1. Its the Republicans who are wisely refusing to go along.
Paulson is a liar. He is exaggerating. What else do you expect?

When Goldman, Sachs looks for a buyer for its real property holdings, I'll believe they are in trouble.

3. Democrats are ALWAYS expected to jump into the fire..while republicans
stand there laughing... When we decide to not grab their bait, WE are accused of being "obstructionist"..:grr:

5. EXACTLY
and just think...the soap opera aspect of all this BS started when Obama offered to make a bipartisan statement with McCain. Instead of standing with Obama and acting like an adult, McSame decides to play politics.

8. Fuck, even after the dems have bent over time and time again for these thieves...
...the bastards still continuously refer to them as the do-nothing congress, and treat them with abuse and contempt.

11. Because dems so assiduously court "independents" they are afraid to be partisan
mustn't appear to have a strong opinion.. It's what does us in, time after time after time after time after time..

We don't have to cane people on the senate floor, but our elected officials HAVE to stop offering "cover" for these republican thugs.. They accept the cover, and then turn around and shoot us (figuratively, of course)

May 22, 1856 -- assault on floor of Senate

On May 22, 1856, Representative Preston Brooks of South Carolina beat Senator Charles Sumner of Massachusetts with his wood cane in the Senate chamber because of a speech Sumner had made three days earlier criticizing President Franklin Pierce and Southerners who sympathized with the pro-slavery violence in Kansas ("Bleeding <...>

14. They've gone beyond courting the centrists and independants.
At times they look like they are trying to snag the 20-percenter-religio-crazies that there is no chance in hell of reaching anyway. Of course we also have our share of arrogant, warmongering, shit heeled DINOS that have been bought and paid for by the mega-corps and will always do their bidding.

Who are we stuck with in SOCAL but Diane "never-met-a-war-she-didn't-love" Feinstein?

I'm just completely disgusted with both sides of the aisle right now...

2. Paulson was SO counting on the spineless Dems to be complicit
in financially crippling the incoming administration and probably Democratic Congress.

I guess he hasn't considered that if he had been able to do that, the Democrats would look elsewhere and decide that maybe that five sided welfare office for fat cat contractors needed to go on a diet.

7. Congress has to face elections in a month.
They don't want to sign on to risky schemes between now and then. Paulson had better find a different solution for this crisis he claims to have just now discovered.

Republicans in the House are not going to sign on to Paulson's plan. Neither are rank and file Democrats. We are going to warn them -- if you want our votes in November, you don't go with this.

What the hell. It's not like it's real money or anything. :sarcasm:
