Dodd: The whole meeting "looked like a rescue plan for John McCain,"
Dodd described a meeting in which Democrats were blindsided by a new core mortgage proposal from House Republicans, with the tacit backing of Republican presidential candidate John McCain. "I am not going to sign on to something I just saw this afternoon," he said. Dodd said Republicans and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson had to decide what they wanted to support.

The whole meeting "looked like a rescue plan for John McCain," Dodd said. He said he was simply going to pretend that the meeting had never happened.

U.S. Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd left a White House meeting on a Wall Street bailout plan saying it could take some time to finish work, beyond Friday's scheduled adjournment target.

Dodd added, "To be distracted for two to three hours for political theater doesn't help."

Dodd alluded to a new plan being floated by Republicans during the White House meeting. "I don't even know what it is and no one could explain it," Dodd said, noting that this new element could cause lawmakers to start over on legislation, which he did not want to do.

2. I guess every one needs a prime donna like McCain
God help us. No wonder Cindy McCain took pills and the first Mrs. McCain has no bitterness, she is happy to be out of this. Having once been married to a egotistical Priam donna I under stand some of the madness.
