Montana man blames unicorn for drunken-driving crash

BILLINGS, Mont. — A man told police not to blame him for crashing his truck into a light post — it was that unicorn behind the wheel.

Prosecutor Ingrid Rosenquist said Phillip C. Holliday Jr. initially denied driving the truck involved in the March 7 crash in Billings. He told officers at the scene that a unicorn was driving, she said.

Holliday, 42, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to felony charges of criminal endangerment and drunken driving. A pickup truck drove through a red light and nearly struck another truck in the intersection, according to court documents. The driver then made an erratic U-turn through a gas station, crossed the street and crashed into a light pole. Nobody was injured.

1. Actually, I have had some reputable elders tell me, to my astonishment,
Edited on Wed Mar-14-07 02:28 PM by SpiralHawk
that the unicorns are back in SD and Montana -- they have come through the spirit (etheric) veils.

Because I know these elders, and know that their lives and their Medicine
depend upon their honesty, caring, sharing and respect, I had to give
weight to what they were reporting. They have nothing to gain by spinning
tall tales to me...or anyone.

Maybe the unicorns are coming back to do battle with the
corrupt cabal of republicon cronies ???

If so, then BRING EM ON.

5. Maybe they could use their horn on on the steering wheel? Seems like they'd have to drive from
the back seat though. Doesn't seem very comfortable or practical, actually.

18. Run a red light,
almost hit a car, a U-ie in a gas station and hit a light pole. Hell. They can't drive worth a shit.

16. Just find wherever Otter Zell is living-he and his wife raise unicorns
I think they are actually goats, but whatever.

Otter Zell was the guy who ran Green Egg magazine in the 90s, which was a pagan-oriented publication connected with the Church Of All Worlds (CAW). CAW was based on Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land" and their principal ritual was "water sharing".

I used to love reading the Green Egg Forum. It was the closest thing to a web board before the internet. You'd get Morrison worshippers writing in to say they contacted Mr. Mojo Risin's spirit, then Patricia Keneally would write an insulting letter in response the next issue. Some cranky guy named "Tarotstar" would write in to criticize pretty much everything, which kept people on their toes.

6. This story is one for the books in terms of defense of DWI.
I do a lot of municipal traffic cases. Up 'til now, the best story given to defend a DWI was the breath-a-lyzer test was off due to the client taking a few hits of "Sweet Breath", a mouth-freshener that has a notable concentration of alcohol just before getting into his accident. This beats my story hands down. IMO, the driver had to be representing himself pro se as no respectable attorney could articulate that defense without wetting him/herself laughing, trying to get the words out.

8. I wonder if it's the same unicorn I saw when I flipped my VW back in my drinkin' days.
Fortunately, the cop let my and my buddy go after looking at our abrasions and the totalled bug, saying we had suffered enough.

12. "This guy has a future in the rethug party."
Yeah, he believes in mythical beings, and uses said mythical beings to absolve himself of all wrongdoing and personal responsibility. Sounds like a typical right-winger to me.
