McCain plans to use Bristol's shotgun wedding to boost his campaign.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections/article4837644.ece

In an election campaign notable for its surprises, Sarah Palin, the Republican vice- presidential candidate, may be about to spring a new one — the wedding of her pregnant teenage daughter to her ice-hockey-playing fiancé before the November 4 election.

Inside John McCain’s campaign the expectation is growing that there will be a popularity boosting pre-election wedding in Alaska between Bristol Palin, 17, and Levi Johnston, 18, her schoolmate and father of her baby. “It would be fantastic,” said a McCain insider. “You would have every TV camera there. The entire country would be watching. It would shut down the race for a week.”

McCain is expected to have a front-row seat at Bristol’s wedding and to benefit from the outpouring of goodwill that it could bring. “What’s the downside?” a source inside the McCain campaign said. “It would be wonderful. I don’t know that there has ever been a pre-election wedding before.”

1. If the media laps this up, they're more scummy than we ever imagined.

16. You beat me to it. Her wedding is not news. Many of us have been
married and under the same circumstances and the media didn't come to our weddings.

3. Oh that's just lovely. I would hope that Sarah wouldn't use her unwed, pregnant
child as a political pawn, but I wouldn't put it past her. The family certainly didn't seem to have any qualms about passing around that baby at the convention, for the cameras.

15. I seriously doubt...
...that this is really his page. As I recall, his account was deleted a few weeks back after the shit hit the fan and considering that this waste of genetic material could be a liability to the campaign, I suspect that the account is run by someone else or, at least, that Levi has to get approval before before making a post.

21. Who I'd like to meet: John McCain???!?!?!
From myspace:

Who I'd like to meet:
Wayne Gretsky, of course. John McCain comes in a close second.

So through all of this crap, he still hasn't met McCain?

12. AND WHAT would the big deal be about a 17 year old pregnant
girl getting married????I would think the church would be ashamed that she got pregnant and has waited this long to get married.I would not watch this wedding and I feel sorry for those kids being used as photo ops just like the baby is being used

14. "It would shut down the race for a week"
Since when is that suppose to be a positive thing? That just shows how bad things are, where an insider is rooting for the race to be "shut down" for a week.

18. the idea that a wedding would shut down the race for a week is delusional
It certainly wouldn't shut down campaigning by Obama and Biden. It wouldn't shut down ads by mccain and palin. It wouldn't shut down appearances by mccain/palin for more than a day. And if it was more than a day's story on the news it wouldn't be a positive story for mccain.

Not. Going. To. Happen.

24. Granpa is so delusional at this point that I believe they may throw
this into the mix. Or maybe his buddy GW can get Iran to aim a missle at Israel on Thursday. Something--anything to stop the debate.

23. This gimmick wont work
it wont work for many reasons. One, many people will see it for what it is, a gimmick. Mothers will see it as an already absentee mother exploiting her child for selfish motives. The news media is already pretty pissed at McCain for not allowing anyone to interview Palin, why should the media give them any more politicized photo ops without any indepth interviews? McCain's advisors must live on the planet Mars to even begin to think that everyday americans would give a rats ass about some patched together wedding of 2 squirming kids. I am always amazed at the statements coming out of the mouths of the McCain advisors..they are unbelievably clueless.
