question - is it just me - when I see inflamatory/outrageous stories posted by someone with low |
|
count - I doubt their post for facts - close it and walk away - even some times ones who have 1000+ - I just find some of the sources obscure and the stories seem to sensationalize or gossip like enquirer quality - it just seems there is more during this economic crisis and after the debates - how can we truly tell when something is fact and needs watching and followup? - some just seem to support our beliefs but don't match other news organization -

When ever I see an inflammatory comment, I look first at their thread count.

3. If I see a post that makes me go "Hmm" and the post count is low, I do a search on them and |
|
read some of their other posts to get a better sense of who they might be and what their point of coming here is. I never pass judgment based on one post unless it is a blatantly obvious attempt to screw with people.

2. I do it too, but I'm also mindful that those of us with 20k+ posts were once there. |

Yes, low-post-count folks are more likely to be trolls simply because they haven't stood the test of time....but we were ALL low-post-count people at one time.
...and if we all expressed the same views, this place wouldn't be nearly as interesting...
I always give them the benefit of the doubt. You never know where the next constructive rebel is.
