Nevada's Clark County (Las Vegas) Republican Communications Director removed
Didi Lima, Director, Casino Marketing, International Operations

"We don't want (Hispanics) to become the new African-American community."

-- Didi Lima, Clark County Republican Party Communications Director - dlima@clarkgop.org

Las Vegas Sun

John McCain's presidential campaign on Saturday removed a Clark County Republican Party official from her volunteer role as Hispanic community liaison for the candidate after she said the Democratic Party made black people "dependent on the government."

5. I actually don't like this reaction
Obama campaign spokeswoman Kirsten Searer said the remarks were "proof of how out of touch John McCain and Republicans are with the issues facing all Americans today."

McCain is an ass but he should not be held accountable for the idiocy of another individual much like Obama should not be blamed for Rev. Wright's insane statements. Unless Searer has evidence that McCain urged Lima to say this Lima and only Lima should be punished. I'm sick and tried of this guilt by association bullshit on both sides.

7. Are you kidding?
McCain is after all the guy who thought we needed illegal immigrants (Hispanic implied) because Americans wouldn't pick lettuce, even for $50 an hour.

8. Beg to differ. Lima WORKS for Gramps.
She was his Vegas communications director paid to speak for the campaign. At the time of Wright's statement, he did not work for Obama. Gramps/the party did the right thing by firing her because they ARE accountable for any statements coming out of it.

9. local conservative LVRJ newspaper buries story with small generic headline ...
The conservative Las Vegas Review-Journal buried this story with this small, generic headline:

"Spokeswoman fired for remarks about blacks"

No mention of her being the Clark County (70% of the population) Republican Communications director or McCain's Hispanic Liaison.
