This is sort of long, but very enjoyable, so rather than copy it, I'll just link it.

1. This is way cool! I have some questions:
Was she this unpopular before she was selected by McC? Or is that a new development? Does she really have this 80% approval rating?

6. New development.

I think most Alaskans were as surprised as you guys were at some of the things that have been revealed. She had kept a lot of her more "unusual" beliefs to herself, and she appeared to be functioning fine as governor, so people didn't ask too many questions about her philsophies. The most recent approval rating I saw was 62%, but it didn't ask whether people thought she was qualified to be VP.

But her "transparent government" myth went all to hell when the McCain people showed up and shut down the legislative investigation regarding Walt Monegan's firing. It just doesn't go over well to tell us one week you'll cooperate fully, and then the next week you're ignoring subpoenas.

3. Great to hear!
It's really heartening to hear that so many people in Alaska are inspired enough to go out and make themselves heard. I go to school in Illinois, but I'm from the red state of Kentucky. I've wondered what's the point of even voting, it's not like it will even be counted - literally, I'm voting absentee. After reading this, I feel embarrassed.

It's sad to hear about Mrs. Monegan. It's such a shame that a man, his career, and his family were slandered, humiliated, and hurt by Palin's ambition and ass-covering.

7. Bravo Alaska! K and R
These yayhoos seem to be less and less welcome in public!

Sarah Palin may have to move to Paraguay with the Bush family and the Moonies. KKKarl Rove can go too!

8. I loved "mudflats" description of the day!
All those signs, great pics of the rally, yours and the others from the mudflats site!

Thanks so much for posting about this, it's that kind of uplifting stuff that keeps our hearts warm and spirit alive! Kudos to you and also to whoever is responsible for "mudflats"

I sure hope that someone up there turns these pics into another easily mailed video, like they did with the ones from the Alaska Women Reject Palin Rally! That was one awesome production and is still making the rounds, all across the country.

For anyone who missed it, here's one cool presentation of the earlier rally in Anchorage, two weeks ago:

16. Mrs. Monegan Speaks
The one that really got to me, though, was held by a sweet little lady who stood alone with her back to the stage. It read “I’m the mother of the ‘rogue’ Walt Monegan, and I Love Him.” People were rendered speechless, and kept stopping, one by one, to shake her hand, and tell her how much her son was loved and appreciated. Walt is the ex-commissioner of Public Safety that Palin fired because he refused to fire a trooper who is her ex-brother-in-law, that she wanted gone for personal reasons. A real human face was put to this situation, in a poignant way. That good man who has not only lost his job, but has been ripped apart in the press by ex-KTUU anchorwoman, now Palin mouthpiece, Meg Stapleton, and Bush-McCain lawyer Ed O’Callaghan, has a Mom, and she is not happy.

The speakers were great. CC from KUDO radio, Shannyn Moore from Air America, Ron Devon reading a letter of support from Rep. Les Gara who was out of state, Libby Roderick, local folk singing legend, John Cyr, head of the troopers’ union, and many more. The greatest of all was the final speaker - Walt Monegan’s Mom. She stood up, obviously emotional, and thanked the crowd for their support. “I never knew so many people loved Walt,” she said, her voice quivering a little. “I’m going to cry……I don’t know what else to say but, thank you!” She sat down again, and mopped her eyes, and the crowd went wild.
