Where was our Domestic Tranquility in Minneapolis?
Where is our Common Defense, why is it in Iraq?
Where is our General Welfare in New Orleans, Galveston?
What happened to our Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity?

The politicians have underestimated the wrath of the voting public on this, even though their telephone lines told them otherwise. Our side wants to sell the farm for some magic beans, except this time it's not going to grow into anything except an increasingly furious public as the economy implodes anyway.

8. I'm hopeful about the prospect of mixed market socialism in the US

Assuming this staves off disaster until Obama is inaugurated, I'm modestly hopeful that the new administration will actually use the powers over the financial sector that Bush will hand off.

Why not use AIG -- soon to be an almost entirely government owned insurance company -- to provide universal health care and fairly priced malpractice insurance to doctors?

I want my socialist experiment!
