My Idea: Let's give Al Gore 700 BILLION+ for Green Energy & Technology.
Think of what that money could do: Solar power, Wind Power, Electric cars, etc.

Think of it: Jobs, Energy, Prosperity, Peace. O8)

I'm in, are you?

3. What would happen if Democrats asked for $700 billion to cure cancer and save thousands of lives?
Republicans would be quick to ask where the money would come from or how would we ever pay for it.

4. Jobs, energy, prosperity, peace, SURVIVAL
with CO2 levels skyrocketing it's not "our grandchildren" who may be wiped out by climate change, it's US! You'd think that saving life on earth would be worth at least as much as saving Wall Street, but I guess not if it comes at the cost of making our fossil fuel overlords less powerful and wealthy.

6. So he can buy another yacht?
http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/al_gores_yacht_not_exactly_environmentally_friendly/

I don't mind people having nice things... but think how better off the world would be if people didn't build yachts they don't need.

8. Meow. What's wrong with a solar powered boat?
Get back to me when Al is using huge amounts of fuel that actually pollute the environment.

18. Tell me how many resources are used up building the boat...
...vs not building the boat in the first place?

If Gore were serious about the environment you'd think he might do more about curtailing unnecessary luxury purchases.

16. Let me guess...you are one of those people who defend McCain for not knowing how many houses he has
I know that site you linked to is certainly not so concerned about John McCain's excesses as they are with Al Gore's. http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/democrats_mccain_owns_too_many_homes/

When you use a site filled with Republican hypocrites to make your point it is a bit too clear that you are not one of us.

17. I hate McCain...
... if the environment is in such dire straits... how many resources would be saved by not building the boat in the first place?

21. Well if you don't like McCain don't be linking to right-wing propaganda sites
I wish no one had big yachts like that, but the truth is that there are very few people in this world who have access to lots of wealth and don't splurge. Al Gore is not perfect, nor did he ever claim to be perfect. You may not own a yacht, but I am willing to bet that you have spent your money in a way that was not using resources wisely either. The fact is that while Gore may not be perfect in his personal life he is at least trying to do something unlike the right-wingers that you believe are credible news sources worthy of our attention.

Gore in San Jose speech: Climate change deserves same attention bailout is getting
By Matt Nauman
Mercury News

Al Gore said in San Jose on Saturday that the climate crisis deserves the same type of attention and money from Washington that the financial meltdown is getting.

"Instead of a focus only on a bailout, we need to bail in renewable energy," Gore said during a 50-minute speech at the Civic Auditorium.

19. What a coincidence: There's that $700B number again.
What's Gore Think about this?

As imports grow and world prices rise, the amount of money we send to foreign nations every year is soaring. At current oil prices, we will send $700 billion dollars out of the country this year alone —that's four times the annual cost of the Iraq war.

20. I'm all for spending $700 billion on eco-industrialization, but why not ME supervise it?
I am much more progressively trustworthy than some Clinton Democrat.

If not me, I would trust a number of others before Gore. Politicians -- Serrano, Evo Morales of Bolivia, Ron Dellums, Nelson Mandela, Noam Chomsky, Barbara Ehrenreich, Barbara Boxer, even Tom Hayden.

Probably not Putin though -- he might spend it on Russia's military budget
