Your thoughts about next Thursday and the debate ..... ? |
|
Will Caribou Barbie show up? Or will she be back in Alaska to spend time with her family?
Is Biden going to be forced to hold back so as to act as if he respects her as a legitimate competitor? I think this will be the hardest part. I would just bust our laughing. Joe has to be mindful of treating her with what has to appear as a modicum of respect. I think this, more than anything substantive, is the minefield that could get him (and us).
Will she implode all on her own? You gotta give her credit for playing the game. That's gotta be a pretty intimidating prospect, debating a guy like Joe Biden on national (global?) teevee.
It is possible she just overloads on the classes she's taking at Veep Camp. I can imagine a meltdown and her going off like a blithering idiot.
What I suspect is most likely is that she will provide answers much as she has in the past. Her "In what respect, Churlee?" and her "I findja sum and breengem tooya" have already become national punch lines. I'm kinda just expecting more of the same.
How will the punditocracy spin it? They've not shown themselves to favor her thus far.
What do you think about all this?

1. They have set the bar so low for Pailin that all she has to do is spew redmeat talking points |
|
to every question - whether they are related to the question at hand or not - and she will be said to have not only survived, but won.

4. Agreed. Freedom, God, Guns!! Shall we count how many times she uses each? |
|
I think she'll actually do pretty well. I watch some of the Alaska debates that were posted and she's not bad. This may be something of a ploy on the pugs part.

Here at DU, we will be busy laughing at the scene while ripping apart the rhetoric that she has been getting drilled into her head.
I think there will be more than one deer in the headlights moments.

3. The bar is so low for Palin |
|
that if she manages a couple of complete sentences she will be declared the victor.

5. Where's her husband? It seems he's her steady hand.. I haven't seen |
|
him around lately... maybe that's the reason she's getting worse.

6. If I were the McCain campaign, I would do 2 things. |
|
First, script Palin for the debate. Basically break the world up into regions and give her briefing books and talking points on each region. Have at leat one mock debate per day on a diifferent region of the world. She won't be able to go deep on most topics. But, her first answer to each question will sound credible.
Second, plan a big news break for first thing Friday morning. They've actually been fairly good at this so far. The news cycle for the 2nd debate needs to be very short.
I think the best thing Joe Biden can do is give detailed answers to every question. The comparison between his knowledge and hers will be stunning. There's nothing the repukes can do about that. They have to hope Joe makes some gaffe that they can hammer on.

7. Bar or no bar, she'll be crushed... |
|
Let's not read too much into how low the bar is, not after that Kouric interview. America is much more leeway of inarticulate dopes after Bush. Not ALL of America, but enough of it.
And honestly, even the MSM is starting to come around, thankfully.
