Seniors being scammed by mail on Social Security fears? |
|
We don't have all the details at this time but last night my wife talked to her elderly mother who was in a panic. My wife controls her finances and check book for her own protection as you will see.
"I need a check from my account right away" "What's wrong?" "I got a letter in the mail saying they're going to use the Social Security funds for this bail out. Unless we can stop them RIGHT AWAY. I need to send a check right away." "Who's the check going to?" "This group that is going to stop them" "What's the name of the group and address?" "The name is xxxxxxxxxxxxx at PO Box xxxxx. And they need my check right away to stop this."
Needless to say we tried to calm her down and said we would come over Monday and take a look at the letter.
Anybody else had a similar experience?

2. Why not post the name of the crooked outfit that sent the letter? |

Just know it is to a PO Box and was very urgent that seniors send them money to "save" her Social Security benefits. She was panicked and determined to send them a check 'right away". Very fearful.
Will post more on this tomorrow. Maybe it's not a general mailing to all seniors. That's what I was wondering. Mildred recently sold her house for a medium large lump sum and perhaps she was targeted because they knew she had recently come into this money.
Will see tomorrow.

name and address of the group that sent it. It's public information, and if they're crooks (which it certainly sounds like they are) shining a light on them is a public service. Shutting down even one of their boiler-room operations definitely counts as Good Deed of the Day.
