Headlines warn of a public backlash, how would that manifest itself?
I've seen this headline a lot in the last few days, that there will be a backlash from the American citizen/voter/consumer/serf, I wonder what an American backlash might look like?

1. What backlash?
They started us on SSRI's, 'pams and atypical anti-psychotics years ago, as one by one, we started noticing things were not right and then freaking out. Now, most of us are overweight from the meds and unable to walk around the block.

8. Heh nail meet head
Yeah I take psych meds for PSTD BUT I do not take it because the shrink says so. I am very"un-compliant". I don't take it because I believe in big pharmacy mythology .I take it if it helps ME.If not,or the side effects aren't worth it, it goes in the trash. I can walk many blocks I have no car I am fat but healthy and strong. My back is fucked up but other than that I can handle things pretty well.
I learned the damage psych drugs can do to a body as a teenager because I was FORCED to take it, but I learned my lessons and read the package inserts and listen to my body and if I don't see any benefits to taking the drug it goes in the trash,my shrink is informed I will not take it anymore and that is that.He is not a control freak type if he was I would not meet with him..

2. If the Public blames THEIR Rep & Sen, they will vote against them
in Nov. I'm not sure a month is enough time to tell if this thing worked or not. If there were more time, they could point to the success of the program, but there's not.

3. The same "backlash" that there usually is.
Some bellyaching, maybe a few incumbents will lose their seats to challengers.

That's about it.

Prove me wrong, American Public, prove me wrong!

12. Exactly! Do we think we are French or something?
In any other country, strikes would shut everything down until there were concessions to the average worker.

Here, we get helpful advice on how to adjust our expectations.

Someday I am afraid Europeans will visit the US and be shocked the misery of the average American's standard of living.

6. They will REALLY get even with politicians ...
Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 11:58 AM by fiziwig
They will change the channel on the TV to American Idol and the latest incarnation of Survivor so that the ratings on political and news shows goes into the toilet. HAH! that will show those lousy politicians. We'll all just stop watching them. How can they survive if they get lousy TV ratings? Eh? Answer me that!

13. The Dem's could have WALKED AWAY
From the trap too you know. But they DIDN'T BACK OFF.
Some Dem's ARE DINOS and they are owned by Wall Street. You will have to realize that the DEM party is not what it was in the past. It has been infiltrated and co-opted..The Rethugs they saw the trap and didn't fall in to it.Too bad the Dem's did not listen to the constituents as well.. but instead they heeded their owners, they are so spineless now I don't know what to think anymore.
I am disgusted YET again.

16. So?
Edited on Sun Sep-28-08 01:00 PM by undergroundpanther
It goes beyond them vs them..because many of them are not for US.That's REALITY both parties are there for the MONEY.
And they proved it.By creating a "trap" so either way the govt.would end up extending welfare to billionaires.

And I think it was a case of good cop/ bad cop but the people are in DENIAL that all the cops are corrupted and hellbent on screwing the public good for their rich pig cronies, themselves and their ponzi scam/casino.And want FULL SPECTRUM DOMINATION of the EARTH.

They do not want us all to be well, happy, secure or live OUR dreams because they LIKE the INEQUALITY just fine because our impoverishment benefits THEM. This INEQUALITY makes sure they have the most and keep getting more, they ensure They will never suffer as we do by screwing us as many times as they can get away with, they do not even care if some of their cronies fall. They are social darwinists and high functioning psychopaths for the most part. They are not like us and as long as you believe that they are like us,you will be confused..as to why they do the shit they pull.

Never trust self appointed or 'self made' leaders.

17. Ideally, the public would have a political party through which their
concerns about the $700000000000 looting could be expressed in forceful and effective terms. Unfortunately, both parties of the rich have ensured such a political party cannot exist. Thus, the backlash will likely look something like whipped dogs whimpering.

19. Unless
there are fifth column people hidden in the boardrooms at high levels helping us secretly, willing to monkey wrench for us and risk their lives ..if not,our goose is cooked we will be facing a certain descent into a ghastly feudal hell.Being full spectrum dominated, that does not sound like a future I want to be part of,not at all.But I may not have a choice,if it arrives or not..it's going to boil down to either submit or die.I'll choose to die than.I hate my life anyway.I have nothing to lose. And I may take as many of the faschits down as I can with me if it comes to that..

21. I just watched a clip about protests in California. You know, they rarely cover protests on teevee
which makes me think they expect huge riot type protests where upon they can teach us all a "lesson".

22. I suggest everyone stop using credit cards. Just stop, period. If you don't have the money on hand
for something, then don't buy it. Save up enough money until you can buy it with cash. Just cut the whole credit card industry off at the knees.

Throw off your chains and send a message to plutocrats.

23. How about a
"Stop Business as Usual" protest. At 12 noon on the day after it is passed..everybody walks off of their job for one hour and takes to the streets. Next day two hours and so forth, until they revise the bill....maybe there's another suggestion, let me know what you think?
