1. It was past 9:30 PM when the debate ended.
That baby needed to be in bed.
And who else was thinking the little girl was going to drop the baby? There were a couple of times there, I was like, Take that baby away from that kid. Are they insane?!

Two teenage daughters, one is very pregnant, one is not, but the pregnant one is always carrying the baby.

But what they don't realize is that it's a glaring reminder that Sarah is a BAD MOM and is not taking care of her special needs baby.

12. They Pass The Baby Around
Like a fuckin plate of roast at the dinner table.

On a related note, when is Bristol Palin due. We need to get a name generator going for the baby.
With all the gems Palin has blessed us with since her announcement as VP, I wouldn't be surprised if we found out that Bristol is a huge fan of Badmitten and as a result, will name her kid "Shuttlecock."

17. Since they seem to have ADD when they name the kids it will be limited to ...
... whatever's on TV when she goes into labor.

Here's hoping they show MSNBC at the hospital, so the baby is named either Keith or Rachel!

29. LOL
We tease one of my brothers because of his name.

Long story short, my mom went into labor at Montgomery Ward while returning some Christmas gifts in the men's department. That night, when my dad called from the hospital to let us know that my mom had the baby, he told us that they had decided to name the baby "Brent". Naturally, we've teased my brother that he was named after a pair of Montgomery Ward's underwear and he should be thankful that his middle name isn't "Wear".

I love that movie. I'm crying here.

My husband is six years older and didn't stay home Friday nights (like I did) waiting for the Brady Bunch to come on. He doesn't get it like I do.

Thanks for the laugh. I needed it.

on edit: I've got six brothers and three sisters. They used to say I was goofy "just like Jan". And yes, my older sister was the beautiful one, like Marsha.

39. That, my dear ColbertWatcher, IS my sister
and when she was modeling she did cut her hair and starved herself.

She is also as clueless as Marsha. Always was, always will be. That's why dad used to tell us that she would get by on her looks and I had better study. It all worked out. I graduated law school and my husband thinks I'm beautiful but likes it that I don't think I am. He's so sweet. He's my oil painting.

50. Therapy can do wonders
And we've talked amongst ourselves for years. We've all made the best of it. And when we're together we laugh about stuff my dad said and compare notes. Our evenings comparing dad's little pep talks to each of us are some of the funniest evenings I have ever spent. We're pretty lucky that none of us have left those evenings upset with each other for drudging up the past. Those evenings are what keep us a family.

32. Another thing that bugs the hell out of me is that Todd
rarely steps up to the plate as a father to be in charge of caring for Twig when they're in public. The daughters seem to have to be responsible for Twig's care.

Biggest reason that I think he's a major asshole. My husband had something really nasty to say about Todd last night because of this behavior.

47. Reminds me of the people..
who have their screaming infant along with them at 10pm on a Friday night for dinner at a restaurant. My ex and I would hire a sitter if we were going out late, mainly out of concern for our kids' rest and well-being, but also as a courtesy to the adults who don't care to be seated next to a screaming kid on their night out!

That baby is nothing more than a prop, and it's sad.

25. The older kids look bored and tired. They seem to be sick of the whole ordeal.
They should appear sometimes, but not often as they do.

I don't think I would have minded the kids' appearance tonight if they seemed more at ease.

When my babies were small, I wanted to spend as much quiet time with them as possible. I'm sorry, but running for the second highest office in the country is not a good thing for a mother of a new baby to do.

31. I don't care about her baby.
I was interested in the "whose baby is it REALLY?" stuff for a while, and was of course appalled by the whole pregnant/shotgun wedding (yet to come!) stuff, but ultimately it comes down to SARAH PALIN and not her family or her parenting skills. She's just an uninformed, unintelligent, right-wing fundamentalist, and NOT who we need as vice-president.

33. That baby is disabled and runs a high risk for infection!!
I have been saying this since I heard the story about his birth. Sarah shows no regard whatsoever about what is best for that child. Kids with Downs have a very high risk of infections. I have taught many of them and as soon as flu season hits in the winter, their parents often keep them at home to avoid being exposed to flu and other illnesses. And when they do get sick, they have a very high risk of pneumonia and heart problems. They are often hospitalized for illnesses that are not at all dangerous to kids who are not disabled. One of the kids with Downs at my school just got out of the hospital. As soon as school started, he caught something and was very sick for a couple weeks.

For this reason I do think it is very appropriate to question Sarah using her baby as a prop. If she has such little regard for the needs of her own child, how is she going to take care of an entire country??

This woman is a monster.

34. My kid went everywhere at all hours at that age, BUT
To a debate? Where she might start crying? Are you kidding me?

Seriously, my kid was so attached I couldn't put her down. If she had been with me she would have been in MY arms immediately, not those of another child/relative.

So, NO it was not okay with me. Because taking your baby everywhere is one thing, knowing appropriate situations (regardless of your kids schedule/time awareness) is another thing, and using your kid as a prop is reprehensible.

46. We shoudn't nitpick every parenting decision
What Sarah Palin did was within the range of normal and I'm not going to judge her if she wants to bring the baby on stage. Everyone has a different standard here, but I wouldn't consider Palin's extreme.

What I do have a problem with is forcing her daughter into a shotgun wedding.

52. She shouldn't bring her damn kid on stage at every political rally!
I think it's bad because there is very little time to rest, much less keep a schedule. Campaigning is hard on the adults, I cannot imagine what it would be like for an infant. Especially a special needs infant.

Oh, and "forcing her daughter into a shotgun wedding" is a parenting decision!
