Comedian hopes she doesn't have to impersonate Palin till 2012
Washington, Oct.6: Comedian Tina Fey hopes she doesn't have to impersonate Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin for the next four years.

A former head writer for the show, Fey has returned for the past several weeks to her alma mater, "Saturday Night Live," (SNL) to play the Alaska governor.

This week, according to Fox News, the show did a barbed send-up of last week's debate between Palin and Joe Biden. Fey showed no mercy on Saturday night as she skewered Palin with her colloquialisms, gestures and northern accent.

Cast member Jason Sudeikis played Biden. Queen Latifah played the debate moderator, Gwen Ifill.

1. I made a point of watching SNL last Saturday.
I thought since the Palin routine was just so cutting edge, the whole show was once again back to its best. Unfortunately I was severely disappointed. Another skit of Nancy Pelosi and Dems fell flat and most of the other skits were very boring.

As a college kid in the late 70s, I use to rush back home to watch the show. SNL use to be cutting edge, taking political issues and shinning a light of truth through comedy on them. But today SNL seems more concerned about not offending conservatives. That Nancy Pelosi skit appeared as if they were saying: "See we make fun of Democratic leaders too."

SNL use to be the prime comedy show that everyone had to see, like the Daily Show and Colbert Report. But now they are a faded imitation of the network news, trying to give a "balanced" comedy routine when "balanced" is just not funny.

There just isn't any excuse for it either. This administration is a comedian's dream with so much bumbling and incompetence, it provides a never ending supply of fresh material. Yet somehow SNL seems to ignore most of it and provides us a fair and balanced 90 minute comedy show at the expense of humor.

2. I had to shut it off after the Pelosi "skit".
Was fey the last writer for SNL?

Are there no more writers in NYC?

What the hell happened, SNL?
