I'm confused, can someone explain?
This year Republican candidates are trying to separate themselves from the Bush administration, seemingly an acknowledgment of the mistakes made by W. But then they claim everything that's wrong with America isn't his fault. The financial crisis - Clinton's fault because he "made" banks give loans to minorities for housing. The Iraq war - we don't want to be there, but if we leave it will be admitting defeat, and it's Obama's fault. Health care - universal health care is socialism and it's bad but the Democrats are the ones fighting against regulation (what?). I don't get it. If they think Bush has made so many mistakes that they don't want to be linked to them, why are they still blaming all of the problems on liberals? I'm so confused.

1. Republican Rule 1: Always blame anything bad on the Democrats.
Republican Rule 2: Always take credit for anything good, even if you had nothing to do with it.

2. I believe the term you are searching for is..
Are Republicans big fat liars? Will they do or say ANYTHING to be elected, whether or not it is totally false?
I am afraid the answer is...yes.

3. In general the repubs are egocentric and the ego is not able
to take responsibility for its own actions. It always blames things outside itself. Therefore even though they messed everything up they are in a state of "de nile" and have a need to find something outside of them selves to blame.

Its like my sister when we were young pushing past a coffee table and knocking my drink over. She attacked me and said that it was my fault because the drink should not have been so close to the edge of the table. Instead of acknowledging bumping into the glass saying sorry then saying perhaps I could move it in in case someone else has the same problem.

The repubs will not examine their actions and will not learn from their mistakes. Especially the Neocons who believe everything they do is very clever and perfect because they are sooooooo intellectual and "supermen". Above the law, etc.

5. I get that
but even if they lie and blame it on Democrats, why are they at the same time distancing themselves from Bush? If they don't think he did anything wrong, why treat him like he did?

7. They just want to be re elected so they will do anything incl.
saying that they never liked Bush. Even if they voted to support him 90% of the time and had their birthday parties with him. After the election they will be pals again. This rubbish about distancing themselves is all an act for the "ignorant masses".

4. Everything is somebody elses fault...
when was the last time there was a real Democratically controlled Congress? I don't mean a majority of one vote. I mean a majority that could actually pass a bill without Republican obstruction?

6. They have to have it both ways
They have to feed the base who believe Bush wasn't conservative enough. All the rank and file see is "big deficit = big government". On policy they have to tar the Democrats because they want to continue the Bush/Bush/Reagan way of doing things. They want to change the names, not their game.

Does that help?
