I have not been following this ACORN thing. But I sure have an opinion. |
|
When we consider that the Repubs inoculated themselves to the impeachment of a true disaster presidency by going after a very popular president for bullshit and blowjobs, we get some insight into how they work.
George Bush was never considered for impeachment except for the 'fringe' - like the brave congressman, Dennis Kucinich.
The Repubs, it is widely held as truth, stole two elections and gave us a true disaster of a presidency. This caused the country to be wary of such events in the future. So, when their candidate is way, way down, they accuse the campaign front runners of voter fraud.
And they put a 'scary black face' on it (ACORN volunteers in their ACORN tee shirts with not a white face among them, are all the clips shown on teevee). And they blame 'community organizers'. And they get a spokesmodel who is black (Ken Blackwell) to tell us 'the truth' about it. And they get news coverage. And start lawsuits. And they go for injunctions, and investigations and all the things that the truly concerned would do when fairness is threatened. All the very same things they **thwarted** when fucking with the voting system was working in *their* favor.
Political jujitsu.
I don't much give a fuck about the facts here. I just know what's going on.
And our side better come out strong to defend our ground.
Strong .... and fast. There's not much time left and we can NOT allow this totally bullshit story to beat us.

1. I just forced myself to watch the PBS American Experience about Nixon last night |
|
The Republican tactics were all there in Nixon's first two races against Jack Voorhis (for Congress) and Helen Gahagan Douglas (for Senate). While the opponents tried to talk about the issues, Nixon used smears and insinuations and phony wedge issues to con the voters.
The tactics of Donald Segretti, Lee Atwater, and Karl Rove are just further elaborations and refinements of Nixon's tactics: If you don't have the issues on your side, lie and cheat.
