7. Repugs bombarding NBC to drop Letterman? |
|
Hmmm.... interesting. If they're doing that then they're more stupid than I could imagine... Letterman's on CBS, not NBC. Plus Letterman owns and produces the show so if CBS did dump him then he could hawk around another network.

6. It was non-stop discomfort for McCain. |
|
There wasn't much warmth going on. But McCain wouldn't shut up. And Dave let him talk and talk. McCain felt as long as he was talking, time was being eaten up and that's one fewer question to ask.
Dave first asked him point blank what happened last time, why he didn't show up. In the only honest moment of the night, McCain simply said, "I screwed up." Interesting that he feels uncomfortable lying to Dave, but will lie to the American people.
He asked him about negative campaigning and how since you can't control who you run into, what about McCain's relationship with and holding a fundraiser for G. Gordon Liddy? McCain's response was that Liddy paid his debt to society. By that logic, so did Ayers. Ayers was never convicted and was leading an open life when Obama worked alongside him. By all accounts, Liddy believes very strongly he did the right thing by subverting justice and so is likewise 'unrepentant'.
Dave spent the second half of the interview going after Palin, saying he's 61, with a four year old, and he's never seen the country in as bad a shape as this. He said that he was floored that McCain would choose Palin to lead the country (in the event of McCain's inability to perform in office) in such a time. McCain was really weak here. Dave said "So, you believe in another 9/11 that Palin would be the qualified candidate?" McCain answered, of course. He even brought up the bullshit about Alaska being the largest state (in landmass dumbass, which doesn't mean jack shit, San Antonio has about the same number of people).

Letterman really went after McCain. At one point John pleaded with Dave, "Haven't we pretty well exhausted this subject?" Letterman fired back, "No, I'm just getting started."
