Will Obama restore our space program? |
|
I hate whats happened to NASA over the last 10 years. Budgets cut to shit in favor of war, no space shuttle. I believe in NASA and think our future lies with exploration of the stars. If we can ever manage to get our shit together. I think we could have been at MARS by now if anyone in the government cared to but we got wars to spend money on. Would Obama restore NASA? I hope so.

1. Watch out for the flood of people who think space exploration is a waste of time |
|
because, of all things, they seem to think it is NASA which takes bread from the mouths of starving children.
I'm with you though. I hope an Obama administration will be good to NASA, but with the budget and economy looking like they do, I just don't see it happening right now.

It just pisses me off that there are people who think NASA cant bring anything of value. I guess if you cant eat it or watch porn on it then its not worth anything. I mean just fucking understanding how the universe works should be reason enough!

5. I support the space program, but I'd like to see us share the costs with other countries more |
|
Why can't we do more with other countries to make manned missions more truly international, so that we could share the costs and benefits for all of planet Earth?
Let's have a manned mission to Mars, but let's all share the costs, so that it can be a truly international effort.

7. Space exploration is dead |
|
Until we solve the problem of radiation, visiting other planets is useless. NASA still needs to be funded so we can solve that problem, tho.

things have changed and there is just too much work that needs to be done here on Earth, specifically here in the United States. I now feel that NASA's budget should be either maintained at it's current level or it should be reduced.
Due to the arrival of Peak Oil, it is imperative that we concentrate on the implementation of alternative and renewable energy sources and develop a more enegy efficient transportation system. We need an Apollo-style alternative energy program and there's no reason NASA can't be, at least in part, temporarily re-tooled for energy reseach and development.

Imagine if those 10 billion dollars a month we spend in Iraq went into funding science instead of war.

It's not about the money, but about the focus. I think, though, if Obama has the team I think he has, we can expect multitasking and competence to return.
