Let's have some fun and list all possible candidates for a Top ten idiots list. I will compile a list based on DU's suggestions and then create a poll post with the final tally. Don't forget to mention why you are nominating them.

I think its pretty obvious that Michelle Bachmann would have to take the number one slot for her foot in mouth moment that helped her Democratic opponent Elwyn Tinklenberg's campaign raise over a half million dollars in a very short amount of time. Calling for McCarthy like investigations into your fellow congressmen is sure to be a hit with the American people.

I would also list Diane Fanning a crazed freeper who yelled out, "Socialist!" repeatedly during Obama's visit to a diner in Fayetteville, NC. Ms. Fanning further demonstrated her total lack of civility and single handedly killed the myth of southern hospitality when she refused to shake hands with Obama. She further expressed that she believes Barack is a closet Muslim. It comes as no surprise she is a member of Free Republic - go figure.

John McCain would obviously be listed. He continues to push the Ayers connection as the central theme in his campaign despite the fact that no one cares and the issue is not helping his campaign. He stands behind the assertions of the infamous robocalls which continue to push the meme "Obama associates with terrorists and Democrats are socialists." The calls also mention Americans being killed, yet I cannot find a single instance where Ayers was either directly or indirectly responsible for killing anyone (unless you count the Weathermen blowing themselves up.) McCain demonstrates flawed logic when he asserts he doesn't care about Ayers but suggests we should continue to concentrate on Ayers. Then he whines when his campaign's robocalls are compared to a similar tactic used against him in 2000. I will admit accusing someone of having an illegitimate black love child is definitely not the same as claiming Obama is a friend of terrorists and a dirty commie socialist. Given the malevolence of the McCain base I would say it is much worse.

She's like the Bible and the Complete Works of Shakespeare on Desert Island Discs (ancient BBC Radio show where a celebrity would be asked to choose 8 records, a book other than the two I just mentioned and a luxury item to take onto a desert island with them).

2. Great idea, I was thinking the same thing today!

My nominees would be 2 collectives.

1. Republican Talking heads. Partly for the line that "Joe the right wing extremist,un-licensed, tax delinquent plumber" and Sarah Palin(comparison)'s SNL appearance are more significant than the Powell endorsement. Partly for the racist reactions to that endorsement. Partly for the Socialist/Question patriotism line of Bullshit.

@. The MSM. Entirely for giving credenct to these lines of bullshit as legitimate arguments.
