Poll question: ATTN DU ADMINISTRATORS: Should DU have a SECOND thermometer for donations to CLOSE Senate races?
I personally think that the Obama campaign's victory or defeat at this point will hinge on factors (like the extent of efforts by Common Cause and others NOT tied to the Obama campaign to stop the election theft already underway) other than the monies donated by political mavens (eg DUers and Koser)to his coffers in the closing weeks of the election. It is much more important for DUers to avoid saying something stupid than to donate yet more money to the already flush Obama campaign.

This is NOT to assume Obama can't lose -- indeed while it seems obvious he can lose, realistically, ONLY by the GOP stealing the election, the latter possibility is not unrealistic.

But it is ALSO absolutely crucial, and will be to Obama if he wins, to get a Senate AS CLOSE TO 60 EVEN IF THAT NUMBER ISN'T REACHED, as possible. It's almost like an extra seat on the Supreme Court -- each extra Democratic Senator means that so many more bills that the Repukes could otherwise filibuster will be passed. The Senate races -- FAR more than any cumulation of House and/or Governorship races -- will determine how much of Obama's program he will be able to enact if he wins.

So I have a poll -- SHOULD THE DU ADMINISTRATORS ESTABLISH A SECOND THERMOMETER URGING DONATIONS TO CLOSE SENATE RACES -- these including MN (Franken), NC (Hagen), Alaska (Begich), NH (leaning Dem but, as with Obama, you can't be sure), (Shaheen), OR, MS, KY (which would mean defeating McConnell for re-election!), and, in particular a moral issue, that &(*^% Chambliss who slimed triple amputee Cleland in 02 to get his senate seat. Moral MacBeth Chambliss is up for re-election now, and his seat is in play, but still leaning Puke, in this case, an insult to puke everywhere.

Remember that the more peeps who respond, and say yes, the more likely the Admins to heed the call. (I do NOT claim neutrality in the results here, in case anyone was wondering)
