Is Palin really so obtuse that she thinks she has a chance in hell in 2012? This baffles me.

Edited on Fri Oct-31-08 10:57 PM by Lil Missy
She seems to think she is now the voice and anointed Savior of the R Party, and has a lock on the 2012 party nomination. AND, did so prematurely, with a subtle suggestion that McSame has already lost this one, and she is not doing this for nothing. She threw McSame under the bus during the last days of the campaign, and before the votes have even been counted!

:wtf:

Does she seriously think she can "burn the one that brung her", and ever be taken seriously again? The scary thing is that I think she does! She'd be eaten alive in the Primaries, if she even got that far in the first place. What the HELL is she thinking??

But I do enjoy watching her, McGrumbles, and the party go down in flames like this. I especially love the stories coming out about the friction and fighting among the camps. (Please provide links to those stories in this thread, they soothe me!)

I am just honestly incredulous at how obtuse and stoopid, and even delusional she must be. She's fuckin' scary. I wouldn't trust her to care for my plants.

All the better for us in the end. But man, it's pretty pitiful to watch.

Edit: spelling

5. None
No chance whatsoever, no vice presidential candidate from the losing team has gone on to be much of anything... we remember them but that is about it. This one will be remembered as large joke, she will be talked about on late night talk shows for a while then fade off into the arctic wilderness that she belongs in.

He lost running for the #1 slot not as a VP candidate... Quayle lost, tried and failed to run for #1 , Graldine Ferraro, she pretty much faded away, Humphry too if I recall correctly...Most losers do not try again, Kerry, Dean etc. The big black mark of having lost once seems to taint them and usually they don't try again.. (Nixon is the exception and that went well for sure....):sarcasm:

2. She is too arrogant
and full of her own self that she fails to see WHY she was tapped as VP nom, which was the pitiful last-ditch attempt of a party who fully expected to be pasted to the walls at this election. Her selection is nothing more than a social experiment; to see exactly how far the GOP can go in pushing the buttons of the hard right-wingers.

But why she thinks getting tapped as a Hail Mary pass to the ignorant masses as a cutesy dumb show piece is a compliment is beyond me.

I think I am mostly disturbed that the "base" is really this stupid. Again!

them telling them what they want to hear.
They are believing their own lies, and rality only gets through to them occasionally. Don't forget, Palin had that "Chosen by God" thing as well.

They both are in for a big shock Tuesday night.

"name that drug". In Palin's case, I'll guess Meth...in small daily amounts. That would explain the endless energy, weight under control, inflated ego, jaw and tongue movements. The other day I saw the look of "kookin", on her face.(ran out of supply?). My experience comes from working in many nightclubs in the 1980's, managing bands, and having go-go girls as acquaintances. It was their favorite drug. Ya don't need much sleep on meth,..endless energy, little appetite, doncha know.

illustrating the statement....Palin has a lot to learn before she embarks Nationally....ethics, manners, empathy, courtesy, discourse, etc....

Here in Illinois we've got a thing called being "topinka-ed".

Judy Barr-Topinka was a repub powerbroker who brought Alan Keyes to IL to run against Obama for Senate, knowing full well he would get slaughtered.

Judy has been a moderate for her whole career, and it's been presumed that this was her and her allies way of getting the radical right to shut the hell up,

They brought in a black man to run against Obama (just like brining in Palin to use a woman to run against a black man). The "outsider" they brought in is really a nutjob. (Palin and Keyes) The radical right is the only visible means of support for this particular candidate. Keyes brought down the whole Republican ticket. Palin is going to bring down McCain to a resounding defeat.

I think the Rockefeller and Goldwater repubs are getting their revenge.
The Professor

The fundie-crazy wing will support her and leave the party when she doesn't get the support they want. But the fiscal conservatives and PNAC types--you know, the Republicans with degrees--will never back her. They won't be able to control her minions the way they've done with the fundies until now. And the whole thing'll collapse like a house of cards.

That just tells me WK and his neocon ilk are so desperate they have to dig to the bottom of the barrel of stupidity and ignorance to sell their wares. They are crumbling under their own weight and that had to be a Hail Mary pass.

They cannot count on the ignorance of the masses anymore, but they tried it again anyway. What is even more troubling is that McSame would go for it. How fuckin' pitiful. I kinda wonder if it was an attempt at a face saving measure because they knew they would lose, but wanted to whip the base into a frenzy so the loss would not be as bad.

I think that backfired. And may they all spend eternity doing circle jerks together, wishing, planning, and plotting, while the rest of us move on without them.

21. The thing is, there are people feeding the beast--
(Before I get a comment, I'm not calling her a "beast", but her ego.)

Some right-wing pundits are seriously calling her the future of the Republican Party, and seriously intend to groom her as such. Fred Barnes and Bill Kristol love her to bits. But what the Republican party has to understand about her is, even if she has a great personal narrative ("it's about narratives, and it's bullshit!" is how I believe Peggy Noonan put it, however sub rosa that observation was intended) and can speak fluently evangel-ese, and even if she can deliver the kind of message that speaks to the "have a beer with" ham-and-eggers, she is scaring off the smart people.

Of the Obamacans who have endorsed post-Palin selection, it seems most if not all of them have had something to say about her selection, and it was negative. She's not experienced. She won't be ready on Day One. Her selection was about the campaign, but not the administration. Even some people who can still be expected to pull the lever for McCain, like David Frum, have expressed their misgivings about her. Larry Eagleburger just said she wasn't ready. When people like Christopher Buckley, Colin Powell, Ken Adelman, are jumping ship, it's not the time to be promising that people who are anti-Palin are going to be victims of the in-house fatwa. They should be wondering why a Buckley walks out on the party's main ticket, and they still have Bill Kristol. (What's the deal with Bill "wrong about stuff" Kristol, anyway? Is he like, someone's *kid*? I know. I'm just teasing.) David Frum says they need to figure out where conservatism is going, post-election, and the Dobson people and the NRA people are saying "Where Sarah takes us!"

Palin is still "young" in political terms, and if she makes her way back to Alaska and doesn't messs anything up, even if she doesn't get into the VP slot, she still could, maybe, pull a career out of politics. The people who speculate she could finagle her way into Steven's seat are positing the most likely scenario for her getting White House-level aspirations again. Based on her performance in regard to ethics scandals, though, I don't know she'll get there, and I also am not really positive she has the ability to do much as a senator. It takes a little more "work." Book work. You know?

My prediction for 2012 is she takes Dick Morris' advice and goes into the primary as the "outsider", but comes off fringe-y and still unprepared when debating against people who actually are of that caliber. And ethics issues will haunt her since she *will* be more watched having been a national candidate--it's just common sense. Who beats her in the primary depends a lot on which way the party actually goes. It could be a social-moderate/fiscal conservative--the Romney blend, I guess. Probably not Mitt himself, but you know. Of the breed. But it'll probably end up being somebody like Lindsey Graham. With his running mate, Joe Lieberman.

But that "beast" has already over its hand and people have caught on. The repuke party as we know it, (suffered it), is self-destructing. The hubris was overwhelming, and finally has gone full circle to bite them in the ass.

2012.

With three to four years to spiffy herself up and to acquire the appearance of gravitas and by then a claim of 6 years as a Governor or Governor then Senator - I could imagine her as a significant competitor for the GOP nomination - especially considering that the GOP does not have any visible heir apparent at this time. The right-wing does not have any Reagan or George W. waiting in the wings.

46. Careful, you could have said the same about 'W'
Look how that sorry dumb cow poke turned out.

Repugs are intellectually bankrupt and their base;

greedy, racist, war mongering, evangelical, simpleton,

is large enough to vote another nimrod into office.

51. W had an ultra rich Daddy and family dynasty to buy him the office.
And then they STILL had to steal both Elections!

sarah mcpoopflakes doesn't even have that much. She's toast.

But that is not to say that the intellectually bankrupt, greedy, bigoted, war mongering, evangelical, simpletons won't find another nimrod to support.

I just don't think it's going to be sarah. She has burned her bridges already.

And Obama will be re-elected in 2012 anyway. :)

65. She's backed by the Council for National Policy
and it's always been their intent to turn this country into a fascist theocracy.

She thinks she'll win in 2012 because of that.

What I think is that the next four years will demonstrate a power battle in that party between the old corporate and moneyed interests and the Christofascists.

Whatever the outcome, it will be very interesting to watch.

However...

we shouldn't forget how significant that particular loser-VP wound up becoming.

70. She'd better consult with Katherine Harris about that. Ms. Harris
was certainly brought crashing down to earth about her delusions when the Republican Party turned their backs on her. They will do the same to Caribou Barbie.

73. I'm certain she can score enough donations from the fundies to do the exploratory committee thing
You know, do some polling, collect money for a possible run. But those polls will tell her all she ever needs to know about her political future in the lower 48. She's not going anywhere.

I think everyone but lunatic fringe (which includes Palin herself) knows that. It will be fun to see if she can rally enough lunatics to get her the nomination in 2012.

81. fundies and evangelical probably are her base, but they've already overplayed that hand.
But I do think the party might back her in 2012 if they realize no R candidate can win against a popular Obama. They'll need a throw away candidate, and she is perfect for it.

And she's stoopid enough to consider it a compliment. :eyes:

It would be worth every penny to use her as a throw-away candidate and put a final nail into her career.
