Current Status. Alaska Political Corruption Events. 31 October 2008
Guilty Plea, Or Convicted:

1 Bill Allen Republican CEO VECO, To be sentenced.
Guilty plea. 3 felony counts: extortion, bribery and conspiracy.
2 Rick Smith Republican VP VECO, To be sentenced.
Guilty plea. 3 felony counts: extortion, bribery and conspiracy.
3 Bill Bobrick Democrat Lobbyist, Compl. sentence. Free.
Guilty plea. 1 felony count: conspiracy to bribe.
4 Bill Weimar Republican CEO Allvest, To be sentenced.
Guilty plea. 2 felony counts: conspiracy to commit fraud, and
illegal financial transaction.

5 Jim Clark Republican Chief Staff, Gov Murkowski. To be sentenced.
Guilty plea. 1 felony: conspiracy to defraud.

6 Rep. Pete Kott Republican Speaker, Alaska House. In Prison.
Convicted of 3 felony counts of bribery, conspiracy, extortion, and
of giving false testimony during his trial. Sentenced to 9 years.
7 Rep. Tom Anderson Republican Alaska House. In Prison.
Convicted, 7 felonies: 3 counts money laundering, 2 counts extortion,
1 count each of bribery and conspiracy. Sentenced to 5 years in prison.
8 Sen. Vic Kohring Republican Alaska Senate. In Prison.
Convicted, 3 felony counts, bribery, conspiracy, attempted extortion.
Sentenced to 3.5 years.
9 Sen. Ted Stevens Republican U.S. Senate. To be sentenced.
Convicted, 7 felony counts, filing false Senate financial disclosures.



Indicted
1 Rep. Bruce Weyhrauch Republican Alaska House.
Indicted on 4 felony counts: bribery, attempted extortion, conspiracy,
and honest services mail fraud, all federal. Awaiting trial.
2 Sen. John Cowdery Republican Chair, Rules Committee, Alaska Senate.
Indicted on 2 felony counts of conspiracy and bribery. Awaiting trial.

Under Investigation

1 Sen. Ben Stevens Republican Speaker, Alaska Senate. FBI, IRS.
2 Trevor McCabe Republican Former staff, US Sen. Ted Stevens. FBI, IRS.
3 Rep. Don Young Republican U.S. House. DOJ, FBI, IRS, US Senate.
4 Gov. Sarah Palin Republican Alaska. Alaska Legislature investigation, and
Alaska Personal Board investigations (3 personnel complaints, 1 ethics
complaint). Thus far, Palin has been found to have violated Alaska Statute
39.52.110 (a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act in the Troopergate scandal.

The most recent complaint against Palin was filed on 30 October 2008 with the Alaska Personnel Board, accusing Gov. Sarah Palin of breaking state ethics rules by charging the state for her kids' airline tickets to various events.
