My Son Was Barack Obama for Trick or Treat!
Of course, we are in a VERY blue state (Maine), but it was interesting to hear just how many of the homes we went to where the people said "I'm voting for (or voted for) YOU"!

I'm sorry I don't have a picture to post. He was dressed in a dress shirt & tie and had a button I made that said "Next Prez BARACK".

I dressed as Bill Clinton and had a button that said "Ex Prez BILL".

BTW, for those who don't know, my son is African American.

PEACE!

5. He is a GREAT boy of 8!
His enthusiasm and desire for a President who looks like him was one of the reasons for my wife's and my move from Hillary to Obama during the primary season.

white woman I am especially joyful for my African American friends. I'm really giving my age away here, but I think I was in the third grade or so when Jackie Robinson got to play baseball for the majors. The AA kids in my class were quite restrained now that I think about it, but their heads were higher and their steps more confident. It saddens me there is still so much ignorance in this country, but Barack will at least attempt to seal that divide. The best to your family.

15. And the best to yours, too.
I believe that Barack's administration will make this country grow up.

Can you imagine a cop racially profiling by saying "I pulled that guy over because he looks like the President". I don't think so.

2. That sounds like a great Halloween! I was having a bit of a hard day at work yesterday.
When I was driving in between patients homes feeling pretty sad I looked out my window and saw a person on their front porch in an Obama mask waving to me. I waved back and felt so much better!

6. We had a good time!
He was greeted by many people who said they'd be voting for him and only one who said he might not.

I think it lifted some people's spirits, and we had a lot of fun, too.

3. We want pictures!
Very cool. I vacationed in Maine this year. Camden is so very liberal (people registering people all weekend). Then got to Booths Bay; saw my first Nobama sign, and didn't even 'get' it at first.

Just like any other state, I imagine. :D

7. If I can figure a way to get the picture from my phone to my computer,...
...I'll gladly supply one!

Camden is lovely and we take our visitors there frequently. Up here we call Boothbay "Boozebay Harbor". We like it though and there are "nobama" nuts everywhere, so we ignore them.

PEACE!

9. What a great night for your boy!
How kind of people to cheer him on like that (but then, I'd expect nothing less of northern New Englanders. ;) )

16. We love Northern New England.
We've gotten less grief over the makeup of our family here than we did in very diverse Philadelphia.

I think my son is already running for Governor of Maine in the year 2042! He frequently says he wants to be the first black governor of Maine.

10. I wore my Obama/Biden t-shirt to hand out candy and when the
kids would see it their little faces would light up and they would say things like "wow, I love your shirt". That was fun.

I've always been open about my beliefs too. I expressed my disapproval of president moron when his "approval" ratings were 92%.

12. I also live in Maine and I didn't know it was a Blue state!
I carved a pumpkin with the Obama rising sun logo. Parents took pictures of their kids in front of the pumpkin. Trick-or-treaters came to the door yelling, "Obama rocks!" One boy told us about the mock vote at his school, which Obama won. Another little boy pointed at a magnet on our car featuring the same logo (and no writing) and yelled, "Look! An Obama car!"

I couldn't believe how many people--and kids--recognized the logo.

P.S. None of our trick-or-treaters had an Obama costume, but one girl dressed as The Bailout.

13. A few recognized my Obama sign pumpkin, too.
One dad lined his kids up and asked them who's going to be our next president, and they all yelled, "Barack Obama!" Fun night.

20. How did she do that?
BTW, Maine went for Clinton twice, for Gore and for Kerry. It was one of the states where Kerry's margin of victory was wider than Gore's.

23. Bailout costume
All I can remember is that she wore a bunch of supermarket receipts stapled to her clothes and a headband reading "The Bailout," but there may have been more elements to it. It was funny and refreshing, especially after a parade of kids dressed as characters from horror movies I've never seen.
