Solution for long lines when voting: Have 2 lines: 1 for them booths and 1 for those |
|
who will be given their ballot to fill out on each others backs, or any place they choose on the premises...privacy be damened...
obviously, all would be confirmed registered voters with proper ID
Waiting time reduced to a few minutes.

2. Actually, it's never the VOTING that's the hold up--- |
|
it's invariably the sign-in that takes so long. Go to any polling place and I'll betcha $100 that's what you'll find.
The solution? More pollworkers to do the sign in.

3. You hit a BIG nail on the head. In Oklahoma -- all paper ballot state - there are no lines |
|
Once you've checked in at the clerk's desk and they have checked you are registered and at the right polling location then you get your ballot and can fill it out in a booth, on the floor, or up against a wall....

5. I know! It's the one thing OK did right |
|
There are plenty of machines in each precinct and the same kind of optical scan machine in every precinct.

4. A better solution would be........ |
|
Have two lines, one for republicans and one for dems.
Have the repulican line circle back into itself, while the dem line gets to vote. I have found this works best!

9. I'm afraid the insurance rates would be high from them constantly bumping into each other |

I can only imagine how hard it is for them to navigate when their heads are so far up their own asses.
EDIT: reworded

6. At the risk of - - Stay with me for a moment - at the risk of going maudlin |
|
If that happened, the idea of what Norman Rockwell would paint today based on that...
Imagine a longish line of people, of all colors all races, waiting to vote, some filling the ballot on each others' backs, all smiling and laughing to each other.
OK - its early
I'm weird

10. Another idea: Volunteer bi-partisan "place-holders" for those in line. |
|
When the lines are long, have sanctioned "place-holders" to allow a voter to go to the rest-room, catch a snack, take meds, feed meter, etc.. Maybe this is done in some places, but I have never seen it.
