The Evidence Establishes, without Question, that Republican Rule Is Dangerous:

The Evidence Establishes, without Question, that Republican Rule Is Dangerous: Why It Is High Time to Fix This Situation, For the Good of the Nation

By JOHN W. DEAN

Friday, Oct. 31, 2008

Occasionally, during the past eight years of writing this column, I have addressed the remarkably dangerous manner in which Republican Party officials rule the nation when they control one or more of the three branches of the federal government. Over the same period, I've also made this argument, even more directly and loudly, in three books on the subject.

In this column, I will be more pointed on this subject than I have ever been, while also repeating a few key facts that I have raised earlier - because Election Day 2008 now provides the only clear remedy for the ills of Republican rule.

The Republican Approach to Government: Authoritarian Rule

Republicans rule, rather than govern, when they are in power by imposing their authoritarian conservative philosophy on everyone, as their answer for everything. This works for them because their interest is in power, and in what it can do for those who think as they do. Ruling, of course, must be distinguished from governing, which is a more nuanced process that entails give-and-take and the kind of compromises that are often necessary to find a consensus and solutions that will best serve the interests of all Americans.

McCain, especially, fits perfectly as an authoritarian leader. Such leaders possess most, if not all, of these traits:

dominating
opposes equality
desirous of personal power
amoral
intimidating and bullying
faintly hedonistic
vengeful
pitiless
exploitive
manipulative
dishonest
cheats to win
highly prejudiced (racist, sexist, homophobic
mean-spirited
militant
nationalistic
tells others what they want to hear
takes advantage of "suckers"
specializes in creating false images to sell self
may or may not be religious
usually politically and economically conservative/Republican

2. Some people seem to need more of the hair of the dog that bit them...
Like an alcoholic that needs that early morning drink, they need just one more big boot in the ass, to convince them that they need to protect the tax cuts of the wealthy.

5. After talking with 2 puke supporters yesterday the only thing I can say is how can they claim
To love america and its freedoms when they want to legislate morality? Why does abortions matter to 2 men that will not father anymore kids nor will they ever get pregnant? Why do homosexuals bother them if they are secure in being hetro and married? Why is it they believe McCain is a war hero, when all he done was get shot down bombing a city, yet the guy who actually got wounded trying to protect the lives of others is not a hero because he isn't a republicon?

Why is it they support the bailout of Wall street yet not bailing out the people on main street? It really makes one wonder, after all one of these guys is a land lord who collects rent from welfare and SSI/SSDI renters. So reality is with democratic control he will make more money then he does on puke control, btw, he is also earning less then $250,000 a year on income from the 60 houses he rents, after he takes out repairs, property taxes, employees to repair these rentals wages and the other costs of renting. What don't they get?

And what makes you think Joe the plumber and land lord Sam types are just going to get over having a black democratic president? You think Clinton had them on his case, just wait and see how badly they react to Obama, because my gut feeling is they will pick everything he does apart reguardless of how better their lives are with Obama in office. The next 4 years will be non-stop personal attacks on the democratic leadership.
