Kid's scary picture gets him suspended from school until he passes psych evaluation!

Source: Savannah Morning News

Fifth-grader Jordan Hood thought the bloody vampire he drew in art class was scary, but he had no idea it would elicit a horrifying response from one of his teachers.

Tuesday morning, Jordan was assigned to draw a scary Halloween mask in art class.

By the end of the day, Jordan was being told he could not return to Pooler Elementary School until he passed a psychological evaluation.

"We live in an age where there is some hypersensitivity," Bucky Burnsed, Savannah-Chatham school system spokesman, said Thursday. "But the child is back in school where he belongs."

During art class Tuesday, Jordan drew a scarred vampire with bloodshot eyes and with blood dripping from its nose, mouth and down its cheeks. Art teacher Lloyd Harold helped the boy shade the sketched eyes to give the drawing an even creepier look.

"The assignment was to draw a scary mask or picture - basically a Halloween activity," Harold said.

3. It's even worse
It's wasn't the gore, the teacher saw the blood droplets as possible gang signs.

4. I know, I've seen way worse than that.
But then again this is the post-Columbine era, and parents overreact to fucking EVERYTHING!

2. Can you imagine what high school English teachers would do to Stephen King

if he were a teenager now?

I'm currently reading one of his books on the craft of writing and it's part biography as well. He started writing his scary stories in elementary school.

8. I don't know if this kid was black or not...
...but his mom's name is LaKisha. I'm going to infer from that that he's probably black, and ask the question - would the teacher have assumed gang involvement had it been a white kid?

10. Fundies don't understand that it is human nature to enjoy a good scare.
That's why we go to amusement parts, etc. We like a little controlled scaring.

People need to get over themselves.

11. How in the hell did we all survive?
I mean, if that happened to me as a kid, I think that would have affected me worse than the actual drawing. I remember being in 5th or 6th grade and writing a Halloween play where there was blood and murder and mayhem and my teacher, guess what, encouraged my imagination... she didn't trot me off to a shrink.

But then again, we went to what is called one of the worst school districts in the country.
