slow down and puff with care. |
|
There's one plus to having a sick three-year-old. I'm listening to Thomas the Tank Engine episodes instead of media attempts to make this a horse race.
As I write, Thomas is chasing a bunch of runaway Troublesome Trucks toward the New Station, which they threaten to tear up in their runaway state. Between Thomas and the station is the Difficult Bend, an angular point in the track at which Thomas has jumped the line in the past because he went too fast. Dedicated viewers, though, will know that Thomas will heed Annie and Claribel's warning to "slow down and puff with care" around the Difficult Bend, thereby making it to the New Station in time to warn the station master to change the points and send the Troublesome Trucks onto a siding where they can safely crash. Luckily, no one was hurt.
Y'all, Senator Obama has puffed with care around more Difficult Bends in the last two years than any other candidate in my memory, at any rate. We're going to get to the station ahead of the Troublesome Trucks this time. Really.

2. Oh! Oh! Oh! I know how this story ends! |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 04:52 PM by givemebackmycountry
The Troublesome Trucks are diverted by the good people at New Station, and they pass by harmlessly, and Thomas is a hero!
THEN...
The Troublesome Trucks careen aimlessly out of control and CRASH into a DITCH, and SLAM into each other and they all EXPLODE into a HUGH fireball, and there are flames and explosions and glass breaking and screaming and yelling and finger pointing and cursing and gun shots and MUCH pain and suffering.
Hey, that's how I read it.
(edited it to add, I recc'd it. I thought it was cute)

5. well, they go through the buffers on the runaway line, if you must know. |
|
And, again, no one ever gets hurt on Sodor. :P
But yes, there is a great deal of noise and finger-pointing. :D

3. Here you go! A K&R and a couple of sentences. I wish it were so easy as to |
|
write in a winning ending to this election!
I envy you. I love children's stories! If my kids would get their acts together I might have a grandchild to read to.

11. I gave this thread the first rec. |
|
I'm a 'thread killer' when I comment, it seems. So it's better for your thread if I just rec and don't comment.
I'd bet I'm not the only one who feels/sees it this way.
(Also, sometimes when I comment, I will be away from my computer for hours afterwards. So I think it's better just to recommend, b/c I won't be able to respond to any comments in a timely manner).
Peace, M_Y_H

17. LOL - I've got "experience" at thread killing. I've said many stupid things |
|
(and good thing there are many good DU'ers to set me straight, which I usually don't acknowledge, but they are TIRELESS in their efforts for me to 'think clearly' on my own - not "groupthink" - I truly appreciate those DU'ers).
DU is a a generally a 'wonderful place' filled with contributions from intelligent, kind-hearted, progressive people.

14. yeah, but look at it this way. |
|
If you don't comment, and the thread sinks, I have to watch it sink (regardless of the number of recs) or comment on my own thread in order to float it, upon which LoZoccolo frowns. Better that you comment. :)

18. So many DU'ers will have better commentary/insight than I will EVER have, |
|
although I'm not stupid/clueless....
I love to listen to/read what others more 'connected' than me have to say.
I'll 'chime in there' if I feel I have something worthy to contribute! oh'kay? ;-)
