4. I really am never disappointed by DU |

I knew after seeing the Olbermann sketch there would be a whole bunch that would be outraged that he was made fun of, even though he thought it was funny. The Sad Grandpa was very funny, but many won't see it that way. Really people you can't live your life all the time feeling that everything is a slight against your candidate. Have some fun and don't take yourself so fucking seriously.

6. This is sure proof that what people find funny wildly varies. |

I am amazed that anyone, especially those who watch a lot of Countdown, found the Olbermann sketch funny, yet they did. Even worse, they think not liking it is proof of either a) lacking a sense of humor or b) not being able to tolerate ridicule aimed at him.
Quite the opposite! No one loves poking fun at Keith more than I do. Thing is, it's gotta come out of a place of knowing his peccadilloes and being actually FUNNY. This one was painted too broad in most places. Too easy. Like "Let's make fun of him for having a big ego, for being overly emotional, for going off half-cocked against Republicans, for comparing everything that upsets him to Nazis and genocide, and yeah, for having all those camera angles on his Special Comments." It even reinforced a freeper untruth about him--namely that he doesn't tolerate dissent with his opinions and silences his critics just like Billo the Clown.
There were parts that made me laugh, but they were because they had fragments of real Keith in them. But...he has a cat in this sketch? And no baseball references? Come on!
Oh, and to edit, I found the opening Fey/McCain sketch scarily funny, at the same time as I realized how weird it was that McGrampy was essentially throwing his own running mate under the bus before the campaign is even over! Is that waving the white flag of surrender or what?

8. Okay good points but I take my cue from this |

HE THOUGHT IT WAS OKAY! When the person who is the target finds nothing wrong with it, in my opinion ends the discussion.

9. All I can say is, Keith Olbermann can't tell me what's funny to me and what's not. |
|
That's still entirely up to me.
Besides, what else is he gonna say? "No, it wasn't funny"? Which makes him look like a jerk who can't take a joke?

10. I have no doubt the right wingers on SNL |
|
wrote that script.
They trivialized down the seriousness of KOs program. I didn't like the content but I did laugh at his attempt at Keith's mannerisms.
