Palin Getting Pranked... It really shows that she has a problem comprehending
what people say to her.

Most people would have realized within a couple of minutes what was going on, and she just didn't get it.

Just like she has problems comprehending questions in interviews and questions posed to her during the debate.

There might be a neurological issue there, but I believe it's Ego.

IMHO, all that is important to Sarah, is Sarah. She is a narcissist. Others' words hold no value to her and she might half listen but is so self-involved, really doesn't hear or even cares to hear what's being said to her. She appears to be well self-trained to be charming while doing this, seeming to be engaged. Charm (if her sort of charm appeals to you) is what has helped her survive and excel in her limited world.

She is now in the Big Show, and obviously way out of her depth.

Link to her being Pranked. Keep it Viral!

20. Wow, that's kind of ableist.
I hate Sarah Palin as much as the next person, but because she has completely bullshit policies and doesn't know her ass from her elbow.

But, we can't elect someone, because they might have a disability? Wow.

31. ...then what does a medical record have to do with it?
Granted, there could be some kind of diagnosed mental illness, but if it was diagnosed, chances are someone would actually get treated and be better grounded in reality than someone who wasn't diagnosed with.

...ugh, and I hate the fact that I now sound like I'm defending Sarah Palin. DO NOT WANT.

37. Seriously?
What if she--or any other candidate--were actually mentally disabled, as in impaired mental function? Are you saying it would be morally wrong to vote against them based on that?

To be clear, I don't think Palin has a mental problem, I just think she's pretty stupid. Is that "ableist" of me?

60. Here is the problem with that assumption: "chances are someone would actually get treated "
that is a wrong assumption. Many people have diagnosed mental health issues but are not treated since their reality grounding shows them that *they* are fine, the diagnosis was wrong.

61. What if her records show Trig isn't her baby? Or she once had an abortion?
Or she uses birth control?

Or had an STD?

Or was injured in a DUI?

Or overdosed on an illegal drug?

Or overdosed on legal drugs on purpose?

For a normal, compassionate human being, these wouldn't be an issue.

But all of those possibilities are directly contrary to the platform on which she is running.

so many smarter high-profile people have have been duped by these same radio hosts. Jacques Chirac, Gilles Duceppe from Bloc Quebecois, Donald Trump, Bill Gates, even Bono. One of their colleagues even pranked Queen Elizabeth some time back. As for this particular prank, I don't know... I think it's more sad than amusing. I mean, I think it's a lot funnier when smart people get suckered into doing dumb things. Fooling Palin, that's shooting fish in a barrel, really.

That could happen to anyone - and her staff is more to blame for that aspect of it. But, I'm not willing to give her a break for behaving like a 12 year old school girl with a crush when she thought she was speaking with a foreign head of state. She's an idiot. Not for getting pranked - just for being herself.

understand half of what was being said to her, yet she just kept on with her, "Oh, well, THANK you!" sort of responses, and spouted off her talking points because she could not think of anything to say.

What she should have done was politely ask him to repeat anything she didn't understand. Instead, she came off like an idiot.

I know whereof I speak. When we moved up to Scotland several years ago, many of my colleagues at work had very strong Glaswegian accents. I couldn't understand them at all, but I was too embarrassed to say anything, so I just nodded and said "Yeah" or "uh huh" all the time, without realising what a fool I was making of myself.

I still wonder, after all these years, what I agreed to during some of those conversations.

The point is, my colleagues probably got several good laughs out of the stupid American, but no big deal; I don't work there anymore. And I wasn't running for the second highest office in the land and speaking to - or believing I was speaking to - a leader of a nation.

We were treated to a recording of of Sarah Palin speaking to someone she believed was the leader of a sovereign nation and she showed an appalling lack of judgment and common sense.

This woman's ignorance and ego are national security threats; nothing less.

On edit: grammar.

38. Here's why what she did portrays her as an idiot
1. It would be a serious breach of protocol for a head of state to call a political candidate in another country to wish them luck -- especially one at the VP level and especially if they had no ongoing relationship. If Sarkozy called someone he has previously worked with, that would probably be OK, but international dplomacy is very strict about these things. The head of state just wouldn't do that. An knowledgeable politician would be aware of that. It's just not done. So, right off, she should have been suspicious.

2. As other have pointed out, she acted like a giggling school girl getting a surprise call from Brad Pitt. There wasn't a milligram of "gravitas," from someone who's angling to become a head of state herself. Even if she wasn't quite sure who the caller was referring to, there are ways of handling this and ways not to handle it. The giggle and gush was just adolescent. She is way out of her league. Half the world leaders are horrified at having to deal with this idiot and the other half are salivating at the thought of being able to scam her at every opportunity.

The accent wasn't all that thick (it was also not a true French accent) and it was very clear to me what he was saying all along. Marcel the guy with the loaf of bread under his armpit. Carla wrote a song about Joe The Plumber! My wife is hot in bed! I can see Belgium from my (h)ass! Documentary..Hustler's Nailin' Palin, very edgy! The Prime Minister of Quebec! Shooting from airplanes and loves to kill animals! It was all so blatant and she just couldn't wrap that mind of hers around his words. In one ear and out the other. No comprehension as I said in my OP. Meanwhile, using her girlish "charm" like a gushing teeny bopper without any sense of decorum in talking to a head of state.

Hello, this is Sarah. Not hello this is Governor Palin, but you may call me Sarah. She then went on to call him by his first name without his permission. The whole thing was hysterical and appalling at the same time!

So far there have been a half a million hits on youtube of this clip and I hope by Tuesday it will be in the millions.

Keith, Rachel, Jon and Stephen are going to have a field day with it. I wouldn't be surprised if Stephen has those two men on his show. That would be his style! lol!

I don't speak French or have any experience with the culture, but I wouldn't expect the President of France to speak like the impersonator. It's one thing for Borat to fool people into thinking he's a clueless reporter, but I dont see how the potential Vice President would buy this act from a supposed head of state.

55. He played on her ego big time, she suspended whatever critical thinking
she might have. The first guy saying "Yea" was already a hint that something was missing. I agree, she so much wanted to buy it. This is a case of not challenging one's own assumptions, a lack of critical thinking, and emotions overriding reason. Near the end of the call, her voice seemed to show some cognitive dissonance, which she suppressed. This does happen to many (including myself) who have been pranked/duped/conned, but boy, the way she acted and some of the things she said, like laughing after him talking about enjoying killing.

58. I very much agree with your assessment. She doesn't or can't listen to others except for a vague
idea of the subject, then she uses that to talk about what she wants.

This is what struck me most about this call. Not that she is stupid, but she doesn't or can't listen.

It has been sent to everyone on my email list, even those who are repubs.

all combined, it will be close to a million hits. I've also passed this forward!
