Any funny canvassing stories?

We had a bunch, but my favorite was the nice old Italian woman with a lot of Stuff on her porch, who asked, as we left "did you see my marble Buddha?" as she pointed to a huge beat-up statue of Vishnu. "My son got it out of the river back there - he complained that it was really heavy."

Which begs the question of 1) what was Vishnu doing in a river in suburban Philadelphia and 2) what was her son doing in the river.

I love canvassing for this very reason.

1. I Had One...

woman start to quote all sort of things from out of the Bible on just about everything that I was trying to tell her about a Democratic candidate. :eyes:

2. I was canvassing for the Canadian election a while back...

And, the encouraging thing was most people planned to vote for the Liberal candidate I was working for. Either that, or for the NDP, which is the other progressive party in Canada (they're much more economically left than the Liberals), or the Greens.

I think we only came across, well, less than 5 people who said they planned to vote Conservative.

(And yet, the Conservatives still won federally. It's because I live in Toronto, and the Conservatives have really strong support in the west, and in Northern Ontario.)
