Oppn wants AFP probe into leak of 'Bush gaffe'

The Federal Opposition wants the Australian Federal Police to investigate how a private telephone conversation between Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and US President George W Bush became the subject of a newspaper article.

The article reported that in a conversation about the global financial crisis, Mr Bush asked Mr Rudd what the G20 forum was.

US officials denied Mr Bush asked that question and Mr Rudd's office has also denied that version of events.

Mr Rudd's office has declined to comment any further on the incident.
